Going for a walk

How many of you actually just go for a walk, I’m not inclined to just put on my clothes and go for a walk but I wish I could.
We lost our beautiful labrador Sam yesterday morning. So no walk last night and today I'd have been planning a walk that was good for Sam and me: the beach? Is the tide out? Is there a decent pub on the walk? Sam loved the rain so we'd walk in all weathers. Not sure what I'll do now.

Sorry to hear that mate, hope you are ok. I do not have a dog but still do loads of walks albeit a bit more lonely.

Im sorry to hear about Sam I Remember when I lost my dog it's so difficult at first as it's like losing a family member. I never got another dog because of other factors but I still miss him but I still go for walks. Few of my friends got another dog straight after they lost one and majority said they are glad they did

Anyone recommend some walking shoes/trainers or boots? Need to be comfy though as got an old injury that needs comfort. Don’t want to spend out daft maybe no more than a £75 quid.

Debenhams online usually have regatta walking boots on around half price

Thank you. He was a rescue dog - he had been abandoned and was very gentle and timid. A big miss

Well that's my target done for 2021. 1000 miles of outdoor walking activities done. Last year achieved it on December 27th, so a decent improvement. Got it see my other target through now of a outdoor walking activity every day this year which I'm still on course to do. Really enjoyed challenging myself and hopefully next year can get close to 1500 miles and do 1000 miles every quicker.

Before covid struck I'd walk briskly 3 miles every 2nd day.
Done half a mile yesterday and was like puffing Billy.
Get back to it gradually.

I enjoy walking!

So sorry Mate.
The pain will ease and the memories will stay forever.
The worse pain I have ever felt losing a dog.
RIP Sam - No doubt a real beauty like all the Labs I have ever had the pleasure to own.

Cheers he was a beauty: he was found abandoned and probably had been treated badly because initially he was very nervous and wary of people but he learned to trust and enjoy life ie walks and treats

Never forget this that he had the most wonderful life.
That is why you are hurting so much because he only could offer that love and affection back to you and did so every minute of the day.
I just have this bond with Labs, always have done and sounds weird that I can get to their level with trust. They are unique, told my Wife this and now that she has got this one she gets what they are like. She was raised with Collies and Shelties before but would only have another Lab again as I would.

You will grieve and rightly so but I promise you the pain does go.
At the right time, never say never but not right now as Sam rightly so is sitting high on the best dog pedestal.
Equally never underestimate the kindness and trust you gave him.
👍

Walking in the country seems popular but I've always found that a bit dull. I'd rather walk around a city centre, early evening or when it's quiet. Durham, York or even Sunderland are great places for a stroll.

Yeah, I'm more of a city walker too. Always lots too see. Whenever I'm in London I will walk miles. Go to the countryside and all fields just look the same.

I've spent a lot of time in the country and I like a riverside walk. But I find fields a bit dull. Walking around a town or city centre I generally look up above the shop fronts to see the original architecture, if it's still there. I find it interesting but I'm probably in a minority with that. Countryside and beaches will be the popular choice, both of which I like. But I prefer a city centre walk.
