Craft Beer

I can’t comprehend how they manage to do that beer for £2.50…

VAT = 32p
Alcohol Duty = 79p

£1.39 to make the beer, package it, distribute it and sell it…mental. You’d think the ingredients for an impy would be more than that.
People have different tastes, but, if you want a straight forward stout, this is the template.

If I’d paid £8, I’d have made a note to buy again.

Fuck me. One extreme to the other. Madagaska Vanilla Stout. Rank. Tastes like chemicals.

I can’t describe how bad this Madagaska is. Horrible.

None in Ashington one so don’t make that trip marra.

Brew York’s announced their Christmas stouts. Horrah!

Fairytale of Brew York which is a regular at Chrimbo & Nightmare of Brew York is the impy. Sure that was out last year. Or a version anyhow.

Planned to head to seaburn after match, we didn't quite get there but managed to get in the pop up place in monk St and later the lighthouse
Sorry don't get it . Basic factory unit serving stuff in placca glasses then the light house had a canny crowd in but it's Ians beals cafe with a bar . The lads like the real beer thing and huffed because we had to stop off at Cambridge
It is crap but at least it looks like a pub

:) each to their own. It's a taproom, not a pub.different vibe, best places for the freshest beer.
The plastic glasses are just on a match day.
Don't get me wrong. Love a decent pub too. Isis and Ivy are cracking places

Has anybody sourced me this Love Lane Impy Stout yet

Blues are banging on about their impys at the minute, they should just tag you

I’d already been in on Friday & bought a couple. Callum had kept me a Goatsmoker. If o see anything I like on there I usually send him a message & tell him when I’ll be in to pick it up. Only problem is, I normally end up buying 3/4 more.

I think for somewhere like a taproom, you’ve got to be excited about what’s coming out of the pump & want to savour it & even analyse it. It sounds sad as fuck, but there’s that many different people doing different things for limited times, it’s a do it or potentially miss out situation. My dad didn’t enjoy Vaux. I can’t enjoy people enjoying taprooms in general if they’re not properly into beer. Maybe on a summers day outside.

The Lighthouse, it’s quirky & I like it, but it’s not the same as a taproom. Just a pub that sells limited locally produced beer. If it looked & felt like the Isis & Dun Cow it’d be great, but that’d cost money & I'm assuming this is still at the start of him rolling the dice & seeing if there’s a market for it.

Fair enough but I don't want any beer that much to drink it anywhere
A limited pint in a plastic glass in a car park ?
Not one of us got what we like to drink in The Cambridge ,basic bland drinks from 25 years ago .

I'd agree with that. Might get me mates into Vaux one day, but one is a cider drinker and often the only cider on is a weird flavour, so haven't dragged them in yet, not sure I ever will. We only ever do 2 or 3 anywhere unless watching a match, and its off the beaten track. Missus would hate it as well.

Never been in the Lighthouse, been years since I drank on Sea Road.

It’s a Maxim pub mate, you might not like it! I quite enjoy Double, Maximus, Samson & the Raspberry Porter like.

They usually, or used to do a stout called Santa’s Soot. Hopefully that’ll be available this year.

They sell good stuff as well though....

;)

I can actually get to Newcastle for a drink easier than Sea Road unless I get a lift so its not really likely.

Bought a couple of Norse Star III from Morrison’s today. Black Forest Stout or sumat. Didn’t expect much, cos the title sounds fruity, I dinnit like fruit in me beer. However, pleasantly surprised. The fruity Black Forest bit gives it a bit bitterness. Norse Star II is still my favourite out of the series like.
