f***ing hell. Hark at Barry Norman here.
Bit intense that review marra. This is the smb man 😉

Which one? Original one. 9f so that’s gash

3,4 and 5 are good. Marbella as personal favourite guilty pleasure.
Anar, WAD would have sufficed 😂

Well not WAD regarding the movie subject of course 🤪

Boss Level [2021] Amazon Prime

Frank Grillo is trapped in a time loop whereby he gets assassinated every day and wakes up at the same time and place. He does this a few times and the film is basically about him getting good at surviving and finding out what on earth is going on. Naomi Watts is as beautiful as ever and plays his love interest. Mel Gibson is the baddie amongst baddies.

Based on the synopsis I didn't think it would be any better than a 'pass the time kind of fillum, but it was surprisingly good! It's probably the first time I've seen Frank Grillo in a film before and he is tremendous, imagine Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool only less silly and more John Wick.

I'd definitely recommend it.

A very entertaining 3.25/4 from Mux.

One of my ‘ turn this shit off’ films you find on Amazon and Netflix originals.
Saying that I think it was more my dislike of Frank grillo as an actor. Just irritates me.
His recent part in Billions was awful.

Instant family, a rather good comedy drama starring Mark Wahlberg, Rose Byrne, Octavia Spencer and Julie Hagerty.
Basically a film about a couple who take some kids in and all of the shit / reward that goes with it.
I'd give it a solid 7.5/10, I thought it was really good.

It's usually the type of thing I'd avoid, Liam Neeson and Jason Statham type films bore me to death. Not sure why I gave it a go but glad I did. I haven't seen Grillo in anything else that I can remember! But looking at his filmography he's been in a few things and I haven't noticed.

He’s like dog shit at the moment.
The Contender

2000 Jeff bridges and Gary oldman

little cracker this like, political drama based around political fuckwittery and shenanigans.

Oldman ifine fettle and superb as ever as a slimy chairman of the commitee and bridges brings a bit of maybe too much charisma as the president.
Solid 7.5/10

available on Amazon prime.

New Halloween movie
Plenty of gore and laughed at it in the main some of the acting was horrendous. 7/10 not the worst of the franchise

Rewatched the Irishman. Enjoyed it a lot more second time round

Need to see Casino again.
Rewatched Casino recently and liked it far more than the first time. Pesci was rather creepy and Sharon Stone much better than I'd initially given her credit for. Bob was class of course because he was back then.

Finally got to see The Sparks Brothers documentary. I really enjoyed it, especially their back catalogue which I'll be revisiting. Russell was gorgeous when he was young, but my thought that Ron looked sweet has got me a little worried. 😬

I'll give that a blast. You've got to love Gary Oldman.
Just watched The Forgotten Battle on Netfilx.

WW2 Dutch film, subtitled. Although a lot of it is in English as well. Follows a Dutch lass, German fella and a English fella through the battle of Scheldt. Enjoyed it.

7.5/10
Thought this was very good too.

I've never seen it! Another one on the list!

The Offence [1973] Dir. Sidney Lumet
8/10

Sean Connery plays a burnt-out copper who finally snaps while interrogating a child molester.

Based on a play this is not a whodunnit but a character study of long monologues.
Connery gives the performance of his life.
Gritty and unsettling.

Dune...enjoyed it perhaps a little long but sets up nice for the next one. Lots of good actors in and does the original justice. 8/10

Squid Game

How anyone can enjoy this is beyond me. The acting is exceptionally awful. The main character is not likeable in the slightest, couldn't give a hoot if he is eliminated.

Also the narrative is utterly predictable. It's like something a first year film student would write. I managed the first two episodes and 20 minutes of the third before giving up, and it's rare I bin off something I've started watching.

It's not particularly original as an idea either, but then barely anything is these days. Positives are the visuals are quite good, the arena on the first game was pretty good. I honestly can't think of anything else good about it.

It has Seoul but no soul.

A disappointing 1.5/4 from Mux.
