Whisky

talking of Arran I managed to pick up a bottle of the man with the golden glass at a decent price at the latest SWA.
With delivery and commission still came out cheaper than any retailers ( even if they had stocks)

Downside ( and must have been full of meds after Saturdays accident) i promised a mate that he could have it  :(

Oh dear. I have a bottle in my stash which I picked up at Lagg distillery when I was passing through in June.

Enjoyed our first in person get together with Leeds whisky club last night with some very decent drams. Had a 12yo Springbank bottled in the 1960 with 1940s distillate, a very easy drinking 30yo Glen Mhor, a 39yo Glen Grant, 38yo Caol Ila, 16yo Convalmore amongst others.

Nothing too shabby there
As not biking tomorrow ( my back looks like I've got Joseph's technicolour dreamcoat on) I might have a fair few drams tonight.

Might buy a bottle or two to cheer myself up

Have you tried the AD Rattray Tobermory and if so, what is your opinion? My apologies if you have answered this previously.
I tried it last night. Quite good, but it could probably do with resting a while now that it's open. Needed a fair bit of water as it's bottled at close to 60%.

I also polished off their Balblair 6 recently. It was nice, but you could tell it was young. I was hoping for a wee but more from it, to be honest.

I've had their "from the cask" bottles of Balblair 9/10 year old and both were good.
Only £50 ish

It was £45 after a fiver off. It was nice, don't get me wrong. Could've benefited from at least a couple more years in the cask though, 9 or 10 sounds more like it.

Thinking of recommencing the bulk orders to Fine Drams...even with VAT added and any admin fee a bulk order for me and mates still well worth it.
Seeing some of the prices and even availability compared to some UK sites got me tempted again.

You back feeling okay after the smash?

Still struggling to be honest but thanks for asking...ribs sore this week ( didn't notice them last week) which makes sleeping tricky and had v poor kip this week.
Back etc still badly swollen, bruised and numb in parts. Normally I recover quickly from injuries and knocks over the years and maybe I'm expecting too much given the hit I've taken.

I managed two v short and easy turbo sessions this week which is more about retaining some semblance of fitness.

Police not been in touch yet which I find very odd ! No update, request for statements despite numerous webchats and online request for the Officer in charge to give me a call.
I'm not able to start contacting anyone about the accident as I don't know the drivers details let alone his insurers.

Might have a Thursday dram to cheer myself up 👍

Thanks for this as I have the Tobermory and the Balblair in my queue.

For the last few years I've always enjoyed The Single Cask Co. Xmas release in it's various bottlings. This year there are 2 - both rum cask finishes, an unpeated and a peated.
The unpeated is a 13yo Dailuaine from a first fill rum quarter cask bottled at 55.1%
The peated is a 11yo Ledaig from a Guyana rum barrel bottled at 56.1%

Not the cheapest at £79 & £89 respectively but I'm sure they will be good judging from previous years. I'll pass on the Dailuaine this year and just get the Ledaig. Details below if anybody is interested.

After a bit advice from the bourbon drinkers, I've been asked by my friends wife to get her a bottle for him as a present, budget is around £100 nothing with to high an abv, he's just finished a bottle of E.H. Taylor Small Batch which he enjoyed so maybe something similar, cheers in advance.
