A lot of people mentioning man city. Lets not forget their fans had years in man utds shadows but things have changed and who would have thought it? My point is football goes in cycles. We couldn’t beat the mags for years but then beat them 6 times in a row. They went from 2nd in premier league but ended up in championship. We ended up in league 1 but at last it seems like things are improving. Who knows what is around the corner for us? We might have good times ahead. We might not be the richest club in the world but it’s not too long ago we were 45 minutes away from winning a league cup. Forget the mags. I’m not going to slag their fans off for getting excited because I would be excited if it was Sunderland but I certainly won’t lose sleep over it. We are Sunderland and we should be proud of it. We are a f***ing great club with great fans.

If we don’t get promoted this season those crowds will drop next season. This season there’s been a bit of a covid bounce and still some novelty of new ownership. If we are promoted and don’t start competing at the top end with a couple of seasons we’d also see a drop off. We averaged about 24/25k in a Premier League promotion season under McCarthy (incidentally Newcastle were doing well then too).

If our new sustainable approach is to be genuinely successful, we need bums on seats in the future with the subsequent spending that brings and we also need young talented players in the area to want to be at Sunderland. Within five years that could easily look far more bleak than it does now.
Minor point but according to this we haven't averaged less than 27K since moving to the SoL:

Might want to check Statcat for those attendance figures for the PL season under Mick as well fella

Who gives a ff whether they get taken over or not man ?

They still have to compete against the big lads and anyone who thinks that they are sure to win things obviously wasn't around in the 90s.

Even with the Halls bankrolling them big time, they fkd up season after season. Yeah, they got in to Europe, but won absolutely nowt, not even the League Cup.

I fully expect them to sack Bruce, get a big name manager and start being linked with big name players - most of whom won't give them the time of day. But honestly man, who cares ffs.

Let's just concentrate on us and ignore the media wankfest that's inevitably going to happen.

Won't be losing a moment's sleep about the takeover happening. Of no concern to me whatsoever.

He's a cringeworthy little bellend who I have always disliked, but the replies are worse. Love you jake. Thank you jake. You always had our back jake. Hope Norwich stay up jake. Eee, jake, can I finger your bum hole then suck me fingers (okay, I made the last one up). Pass me a f***ing sick bag

All ifs and buts, imo people need to relax about it all

I couldn’t relax or be happy with Sunderland being mid table in the second division even if the Saudis said they weren’t going to spend a penny on Newcastle and they were taking them over to put them into liquidation.

Our local media can't even be arsed to mention us, never mind the nationals.

Would love to know when this sunderland cycle last came around

You absolutely are not always civil at all.
Liar.

Some of the insults you have thrown my way over the past few weeks have been incredibly uncalled for.

I've never once, not once, made any personal insult, or sworn at anyone on here.

Yet because my politics differ from yours I get nothing but shite.

Like I said....
Suck it up.

For the record, regarding this takeover issue, I can totally see where you are coming from.

I can see the tyne and Wear derbies/rivalry getting more feisty  both sides are very heated on this.

Well said that man. Let them get on with it. The mags are like king Midas in reverse.
