Sadly, you are more than likely correct.

I'm trying to be civil and getting nowt but shite from very angry people. I've not come on here and tagged people who last week were saying I was wrong about the takeover and they were right when it's obvious they were talking shite. I could be acting a much bigger prick but Instead, Im trying to answer the posts I'm tagged in and still getting told to step into traffic, called a liar which a shit moral compass and every name under the sun. It's mad.

Nobody forces you to come on this forum.

I think the news of this takeover potentially affects us quite badly. Whilst they are bang average and not competitive, we have a good chance of competing with them for future support. Even when we’re as lowly placed as we currently are. If they become good and make genuinely eye catching signings then our club has a problem in the future.

Over what period of time do you think our attendances wound begin to suffer?

We’re averaging over 30k in league one man! We have good ownership in place, building solid foundations ourselves so irrespective of the scum selling their soul I don’t see it really affecting SAFC that much as our hardcore supporter base would remain the same and continue to bring up their kids supporting Sunlun and so on.

If we don’t get promoted this season those crowds will drop next season. This season there’s been a bit of a covid bounce and still some novelty of new ownership. If we are promoted and don’t start competing at the top end with a couple of seasons we’d also see a drop off. We averaged about 24/25k in a Premier League promotion season under McCarthy (incidentally Newcastle were doing well then too).

If our new sustainable approach is to be genuinely successful, we need bums on seats in the future with the subsequent spending that brings and we also need young talented players in the area to want to be at Sunderland. Within five years that could easily look far more bleak than it does now.

Bang on this. Football lost its soul decades ago now. Saudis coming in takes it even further that way.

If this bloke is the type of person fit to be involved in a club then anybody should be.
It’s sickening and this isn’t just aimed at the mags but PSG, Man City etc

State ownership especially as evil (I don’t use that world lightly) as the Saudi’s ain’t good for the game we love.

The mags banging on about corruption etc and the stance they took over the proposed super league… hypocrisy at its finest welcoming this lot with open arms.

You’re on a Sunderland message board if you hadn’t already noticed. What are you expecting? Peace and love? Mags only ever post on here when they have something to gloat about, you’re no exception despite the misleading user name. “Mag in piss” is what I usually translate your name as.

I dont doubt that will happen. I won't be happy with midtable championship regardless of what's happening with those lot though.
You know what I mean though. Realistically it would be very hard to compete if they did show some sort of Saudi financial muscle. People will want to be ona. Similar footing, its a rivalry and probably human nature.
