Craft Beer

Have you booked into the dentist for next week?

I’m sipping an 8 wired iStout that I’ve had for a few years that I’m sure was a few years old when I bought it. A sipper but bloody lovely.

I had a can of stay out in Cardiff last week and I liked it, hides it’s strength really well…nowt spectacular but decent.

Cardiff is crap for beer, even the decent places (BrewDog, Head of Steam, Tiny Rebel) were bang average and it was the same last time I went. Atmosphere in Tiny Rebel was good mind.
I was there over the weekend, Bubs was the best place we went to, had loads of beers on. Beers in HoS were pretty crap on draft.

Spent 6 hours at Tiny Rebel the next day to power through the hangover

Didn’t go to Bubs this time as it was shocking last time. I’m not a big Crafty Devil fan (although their other bar out of town is ok) and remember when it was Small Bar which was tremendous so can’t bring myself to go back. Hop Bunker used to be decent but it’s closed now.

Just parted with £65 at Port Bierhouse. Got the new Brew York stouts & noticed the Empress Tonkoko so had to get the ones left.

Also bought the North Pier Pink Slice which I won’t like, but got to give it a bash.
Pink Slice - shite

I don’t know why I try these daft beers. Everybody knows the only beer worth drinking is stout

Having Brew York’s Salted Caramel Tonkoko. Topper for any Tonkoko fans. It is sweet like, but what do you expect for a can that says Salted Caramel on it.

Tonkoko is brilliant like, all the different versions. Still doesn’t beat Empress Tonkoko like.

Crafty Baa in Keswick has a class choice of craft stuff if anyone’s heading there.

What’s the Vaux taproom been like on match days? Fancied going through tomorrow for the first time but will sack it off if it gets heaving.

One in Windermere as well. Canny pub but tiny

Sat in Lady Grey’s having a Vaux VPA…thought it was the end of the barrel at first but checked the untappd pictures and it s meant to look like this. Good beer tho, reminds me of an Almasty with the lingering hop burn…by far the best Vaux I’ve had.
Hop burn = good beer ?

Had a pint of Marble Pint on cask tonight. Absolutely fantastic beer.

Haha, only if it’s a tiny bit! Hop burn might not even be the right description, it’s just a lingering bitterness i get at back of my mouth at the end of each mouthful from a few beers where you wouldn’t expect bitterness. With Almasty it’s a strange one as I’ve sat with people drinking their beers and I’m the only one that picks up the bitterness so maybe it’s just me.

A classic. Had it during the Euros for the first time in ages and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’ll also never get bored of saying “Pint of Pint, please”

Didn’t realise they were right next to Fratton Park. I had a delivery during first lockdown, including Staggersaurus IPA and Little Arms Big Hugs. Their beers are very good.
Aye. Taproom open on a match day fingers crossed it all works out.

@Longy i see s43 + Brewyork have done an impy version of the pumpkin spice stout. I seem to remember the one last year being decent
