Well they are saying they've floated a camera up and captured footage of the curvature of the earth.
Pretty easy for the flatties to repeat the experiment and show there's no curve.
Why wouldn't they just do that and debunk the globe "story"?
It is relatively easy these days to do and plenty of hobbyists have done it. A number of years ago, me and a couple of work mates talked about doing it. I think it would have cost about £300 in parts and a couple of months of planning & building. In the UK I think there are only limited places you can launch from, possibly just one airfield in Cambridge. We each did our own bits of research but I think we just forgot about it to be honest and never did quite get together to seriously plan it.
When you think of that daft one in the states who got thousands of dollars donations for him to make a steam powered rocket to kill himself in, when his aim was to get to a height lower than many US mountains, a camera on a balloon is a really easy thing to do.
I think it was 10 years ago when I was looking and it was common for people to butcher mobile phones. With drone technology, parts are really cheap now. Search on eBay for 'ESP32 CAM' and there is a little control board with a built in camera for around £7, that has bluetooth and wireless. A GSM/GPS module for another £10-20 which would give live telemetry and positioning, that pretty much forms the basics. You would need custom written software, casing and a balloon, so actually a brief look now suggests you can do it these days for £100.
A challenge for
@Nukehasslefan? You preach that people have to go and discover things for themselves and not rely on stories of others, doctored footage or the results of CGI artists. Why not look at doing this? There are plenty of web resources out there, and it would answer things once and for all? I think
@What A Waster makes an excellent point and given I looked into this a few years ago, I should have thought of that really.
