2021 Cycling Thread

That's on Strava.

I have my Garmin to auto-lap every 10km. It shows up under laps on Strava.
So when you hit 10mile cycling, lap1, it gives you an alert of the time for that lap , but what happens after that , do you just see distance for lap2 now on watch or is it cumulative and includes lap1 ?
sorry 😆

one of the screens can be a lap summary. You can show stuff like hr, speed etc for that ten miles

If you use garmin and strava and do a 2 hour ride say , is there any way you can get the time up for the first ten miles ? Without trying to add up all the segments 😆
On Garmin connect there's the tab/ button that looks like a circle with double arrow head, press on that, on mine it gives the times for each 5 miles

Zwifters - anyone use a wahoo kickr?

I’m thinking of investing as the nights start to draw in and wanting to follow some set training plans in the garage over the winter months, anyone had experience?

How do these smart turbo trainers work like ? I’ve never used one or thought would be interested , do they give you power and speed readings etc

Aye so you take your back wheel off and connect your bike to it. It has a flywheel with its own cassette so it can better simulate going up/down hill.

The latest kickr has a +/-1% accuracy on power. Meaning you can do accurate FTP tests and workouts can be better tailored to the rider on Zwift. Tells you your speed etc.

They are also capable of having a set resistance regardless of how fast/slow you’re pedalling or which gear you’re in. So if you were doing intervals you’re guaranteed to put out x amounts of watts for the duration of the interval.

All the pros use them so they’re obviously decent. I wouldn’t want to spend my life stuck in the garage but for specific workouts, training plans, dark nights and shit weather I can’t see any downsides.

They’re expensive, got the Wahoo Kickr and while a good bit of kit compared to dumb turbos I’ve used over the years they are pricey.

If I was still serious about training I’d still want an actual coach compared to sessions from Zwift, Trainerroad etc.

While they are pricey I'd just consider it in the same bracket as buying a new bike.
My turbo was a godsend back in Jan/Feb/March during lockdown.

How much are they like ?
