6music

Not having a dig at 6Music or owt, it's the only UK radio channel I'd ever listen to on the very rare time I stick it on. Just think with the amount of stuff that you can find on the internet from so many different sources would be easier to find something you like than sticking on a radio channel and hearing 6/7 songs an hour that you may have already heard or might be from a genre you're not overly keen on.
Sometimes it’s nice just to have ‘background’ music on surely - without constantly having to discover new stuff? As background music goes, its probably the best station available?

Agree with others about MAH’s constantly surprised voice, but it do love a lot of what she plays:oops: Craig Charles, Lauren, Giles Peterson, Gideon Coe and Marc Reilly have great shows.....but Cerys Matthews tries far too hard to be “alternative” and Keavney’s “I’m shit at presenting” routine is just painful - should have dropped him a while ago?

Oh, I could ask... but I won't get.

For me too much on R6 is painfully hip. Sometimes the best thing about it is the absence of commercials, which is faint praise but is the best I can do.
What does that even mean? It’s just a cliche.

I don't like commercial radio because of the endless and repetitive adverts but at least Radio 6 doesn't suffer from them.

Fair enough if you disagree with me, but it's just my point of view and I don't see what's cliched about it.

‘Painfully hip’ What does that even mean? It plays music which isn’t mainstream? Like, decent music?

Dragging this out like this is painful... I don't know what you consider "decent" music but I'm beginning to think that whatever it is, it may not be, er, hip anywhere.

(I may have been hip one evening in the summer of 1979, but not before or since, if that helps ;) )

I find Mary Anne Hobbs and the Blessed Madonna annoying to listen to inbetween the songs, loving Craig Charles in the afternoons and on Saturday, Iggy Pop has introduced me to so much brilliant stuff, Cillian Murphy is a bit trite but I could listen to him talk for the rest of my life and the resident artists at the moment are the Idles and their take on Punk was exceptional this week... first song they played as a punk anthem was Billie Holliday "Strange Fruit" and it only got better from there

love it hard me la
