5th August Stats

The daily reported vaccination figures for England since 27 July 2021 included a small number of people vaccinated in Wales. These vaccinations have been removed from the figures for England for all affected dates, to ensure there is no double counting with the figures for Wales. The UK totals have also been revised to reflect the change in the England numbers.

Rates for cases and deaths for nations, regions and local authorities have been updated to use the latest population estimates for mid-2020, published by the Office for National Statistics. Hospital admission rates for NHS Regions have been updated to use the mid-2019 population estimates, which are the most current for that geography. The updated population has been applied to all dates throughout the pandemic.

Figures reported on a Monday by Wales are for a 48h period. This is reflected in the UK total.

Hospital data for ST&S is updated weekly on a Thursday.

That certainly looks a bit more positive after yesterday's numbers

Certainly does. Don't understand why there is such a large fluctuation between yesterdays and todays figures. Must be delays in the way they are collated/reported or something.

Covid is pretty random, that’s why the modellers have been way off the mark at times, the reds and greens are +/- where numbers were last Thursday.

It wasn’t that long ago testing was 1.2 million per day, it was around 700,000 or so a number of days ago.

The figure we need to reduce and keep on reducing is the deaths, cases don’t really tell the full story.
