I wouldn't necessarily say it's unique to Newcastle fans to be pessimistic mind.

We have not added to our squad, and as things stand do not have Willock who won us a fair few points to lift us out of the danger zone. We have apparently a 10 million budget, which is not going to likely improve us massively.

We are again relying on ASM for any spark, which is alot of pressure on a player who will likely get injured. And we have manager who I believe to be out of his depth in the league.

We will be there or there abouts and right in the relegation mix.

Obviously I'd love you to go down but also think the three promoted teams are resigned to coming back down and pock the Prem money. Neither of them are going to spend big in the current financial environment.

I think they will be favourites. Palace could go either way with Vieira. Early points on board could be crucial.

Disagree.

After a lot of experimentation with some awful formations Bruce has finally realised that Rafas 5-3-2 formation actually works best. He has now went full circle back to when he first started out at the club saying he had to stick to rafas formation due to having a limited pre season etc.

The back end of last season produced some fantastic results and performances and he will stick with this going into the new season. It makes you solid and hard to beat. Granted Willock will be a massive miss as his goals from midfield haven't been replicated by anyone in the squad but there's plenty of time to bring someone in.

A 10m budget has been mooted but that's not taking into account player sales, Lejeune has already agreed a deal to go back to Spain so there's some more money in the budget.

Even without a new player there is no way this team in this formation is going down;

Dubravka

Fernandez Lascelles Schar
Murphy Ritchie
Hayden
Shelvey Almiron

Wilson Saint Maximin

I predict anywhere between 11th - 16th

I like your optimism, but we are woefully short beyond, on paper, a decent enough 11. So a few injuries, covid outbreak and things change.

Also half the first 11 aren't really that good, although granted most teams outside top half have limited players. On top of that Bruce remains in charge and he's not a very good manager IMO.

Bruce is also due his bi annual slump. The one where you hurtle towards relegation before he gets sacked

I'm an educated football fan, I could name any starting 11, including formations and tactics employed by all teams across the Prem last season.

I know the Premier league like Guillem Balague knows La Liga

It's a gift what can I say, some people are just born with a brain like a sponge for certain things, mine is like that for football

Think you missed a couple of smiley faces off there, here's a tip for you, sometimes less is more
Follows me around like a love sick teenager.

proper sad act

Oh the irony

That first team is decent enough to stay up, but beyond that we've very little strength in depth. No striker to speak of other than Wilson, no DM aside from Hayden, no 'creative' CM other than Shelvey. The two fullbacks there aren't specialist in that position, and are wide midfielders by trade.

Wilson gets injured and we're relying on Gayle or Joelinton to lead the line...

fwiw I think we'll survive, but it'll be another long season of relegation struggles, when a modest investment would have us fairly comfortable.

I think Brentford will surprise a few this season. Their recruitment is second to none and they play excellent football that I think will have no problem stepping up to the premier league.

We had a run of two wins in 19 games last season from December through to March. Willock was absolutely crucial in our survival. We don't have him this season.

they’re playing wing backs in that formation so licence to get forward more. Ritchie and Murphy both put a good ball in and this position suits them. Neither have the attacking talent of an out and out winger but they’re quick over 10 yards and aggressive in the tackle

Murphys performances was one of the highlights of the end of the season
