(Rumour Mill) Viv Solomon-Otabor

Sound slime this lad will sign.

He was on loan at Portsmouth a few seasons back, I don't think they rate him. Wigan have offered him another year on his contract.

He made his debut as a teenager for Birmingham, which puts him in the same bracket as the likes of Nathan Redmond, Jack Butland, Demarai Gray and Jude Bellingham over the past decade. Derby were also linked with him a couple of years ago when they were pushing for the Premier League. He'd certainly be a very strong addition for this level.
You have no f***ing idea let's be honest

and he is known by a member of staff, making a mockery of the stats.

Why do you always have to over do it man  He might be a good signing, but off you go again

I'm obviously not saying he's as good as those players but just adding some background for people who might not know who he is. It's helps understand the level of his talent, and how that might be realised in the right environment. The point is that Birmingham have always known what they're doing when it comes to young lads, and if they were prepared to invest in VSO as player then that's good enough for me.

The people bemoaning the fact players are known to the staff and we aren’t just going off stats…to me that’s a good sign. Data can tell you a lot, but not everything. If someone’s looks good on paper AND you have an insight into their temperament, ability to handle pressure, impact on the dressing room etc that’s better than just having the numbers.

mind you, its the usual suspects having a moan so I shouldn’t bother trying to explain.

Speak man was also a coach at derby youth levels so he’s been at every club he’s been at that’s no coincidence , I never said he was a bad signing

Unfortunately there's a lot of safc fans on here who would only be happy if the players we signed were the likes of Kane, Messi, Rashford etc there's still a great deal of people who can't cope and understand the situation we're in and the calibre of player we can sign

Exactly. Mourinho signed lots of players from Porto when he went to Chelsea - I don't think they complained too much.

He came in for Curtis and played on the left wing, from memory - Evans came in on the right wing for Lowe. Odd decision by Jackett, he got rid of our two best attacking wingers for the biggest game of the season.

I still haven't forgiven VSO for a stupid offside against Peterborough that ultimately ended our chance of going up in the regular season (about 1:30 into these highlights)

the previous owners spent lots on well knownplayers from this division..it didt work
I would say their policy was mainly picking up Championship players deemed not good enough in the Championship and brought them here in the vague hope that they'd be good enough because they'd been playing in a higher league (poorly) so forgive me if I'm not convinced by a player who was deemed not good enough by Portsmouth a club in the same league with similar ambitions.

Yeah cant possibly comment on this lad, no idea, fingers crossed and hope he does well

I just find signing players because you know them incredibly short sighted and lazy and it often doesnt work out

lets hope this lad proves that theory to be bollocks
I think some of the links will just be lazy re-hashed paper talk. Maybe the odd player with a link to the recruitment staff will turn up but if we're completely data driven then hopefully it's because they're a good fit and not because of any other reason.

Things change, maybe his development has gone better than expected or maybe he didn't fit their way of play. He could also be absolutely shit. There'll be plenty of examples of good players being let go by one club and excelling at another. And I know that will go the other way too, just have to hope it's a positive for us.
