June 21st

i bet if you owned a business in the hospitality or tourism sector you wouldn't think its the right thing to do just give them 'a bit more time' to get more people vaccinated. that argument could be used again when those 3-4 weeks are up
If it allows the majority of public to build up confidence to get out there, mix with the wider population, and spend then I absolutely would tbf.

The economy can only truly recover from opening up and public having confidence to mix. The two go hand in hand.

of course it 'risks' increase in numbers. as it will in 3 weeks time. 10 weeks time. 10 months time.

the only thing thats grown exponentially over the past 2 months is the amount of people and journalists floundering around for negative spin and spouting unsubstantiated nonsense in the hope that the government extend the misery.

the daily numbers, the actual facts and data that we can all analyse, shows no growth in the key areas and clearly shows the vaccines working.

So it's case numbers and 'hospital admissions' now?

Not the NHS being overwhelmed anymore?

It looks like the seriously risk averse joy hoovers are going to get their way.

I think you need to chill out marra. Given what we know at the moment. A extra few weeks to vaccinate more people makes total sense the way things stand. Of course its not ideal for some people but in the grand scheme of things and where weve come from its fuck all really. You'd think we were taking a step back the way some people are going on

i totally get that, and it wont be the end of the world for most people, myself included. the problem is, following the logic that would go into a decision like that, would render the lifting of restrictions in 3 weeks or 4 weeks time equally susceptible to delay for exactly the same reason

delaying 'to make sure' or to 'vaccinate a few more people' isnt really a reason that can be substantiated through data. and round and round we go.

I don’t think anyone actually wants to delay any longer

other than nearly every person involved in the media and journalism. and many scientists who are unable to accept anything, socially, other than zero risk outcomes. and a lot of people who predicted it would get pushed back would be secretly happy to be proved right. and anyone who is making big bucks from the whole thing, consultants, businesses etc..

If everybody that has been offered vaccine has had one and the numbers for instance are what they are now yet still we haven't took the next step then fair enough people should be moaning. Weve come a long way in a relative short time, its just about not doing anything rash at the moment.

There are still huge and important areas of our economy that are being decimated by people who seem obsessed with getting something close to zero covid

The link is between covid and serious illness and death has been broken by the vaccines - extending the measures is ridiculous when you look at the data

Most of the media do

Like I said above mate if we are still here in 5-6 weeks time and the numbers are still good and we still haven't made the step I'll be complaining as much as everybody. I certainly dont think there is any sort of conspiracy afoot so that life is never same again

Vowed to stay off here but couldn’t resist, all the naive people who genuinely think a ‘extension of 2 weeks/3 weeks/4 weeks’ would indeed be an extension for that period 😂😂 remember when it was 3 weeks to flatten the curve, sixteen months later .... if this doesn’t end on June 21st it never will. The data will look no better in 3-4 weeks than it does now, there’ll constantly be an appetite to ‘just wait a few more weeks’ as for months more and more groupings eligible for second dose, and whilst as you move down the age groups the chances of hospitalisation and death are lower, there’ll constantly be a ‘but prolonging it will save lives’ etc. it’ll never end. Look forward to returning in a few weeks when I’m proved right.

You're looking forward to returning when you're proved right. You sound like you'd be buzzing if we get locked down again, or restrictions don't get lifted anytime soon.

You should be hoping youre way off the mark man. But as long as you're right eh?

Utter moron

I don't think it's a conspiracy - the scientists and NHS are dominating decisions which should be made in a far wider and balanced way

I'm going to the pub now anyway so fuck them :lol::lol::lol:

How far are we currently off the Sage best and worst case scenario predicted at the beginning of the roadmap? That should help determine whether 21 June goes ahead. If we’re somewhere in between they surely have no mandate to recommend extending it.
