Racist Sportsmen or just daft young lads

Which sad fuck looks through old stuff like this anyway? If someone posts something now that's offensive, then maybe see what else he's done. But to randomly look though someone's history in the hope they do find something is creepy as fuck and sad.

Maybe someone who thought his societal views were a bit dodgy.

You're still missing the point.
I'm not missing the point.

A person shouldn't have to have his career put on hold because of something inappropriate he wrote when he was a teenager and not even known to the media.

It's simply looking for a scapegoat in a time when racism on social media is flavour of the week.

None of that is relevant though.

The ECB didn't have any choice but to suspend him otherwise it makes a mockery of their whole diversity stance.

If they didn't suspend him what happens if anyone else does it in future?

Aye, maybe some of these people who think he shouldn't have been suspended should try to view it from the perspective of a black kid trying to make a career in cricket.

If the ECB hadn't suspended him, what sort of message does that send out to them?
Would you approve of Tweet vetting before being selected for a national side. That goes for the decision makers also.

Was barely offensive if you ask me based on what I've seen.

It wasn't aimed at you, you berk.

You've shown your arse there.

Racism should be challenged at every opportunity.
I'm sure he has learned - possibly not to post things like that - since he first posted it, but the point is which you seem to be spectacularly missing is - HE. PUT. IT. OUT. THERE.

It's called being responsible for your actions.

Like it or not, it's fair game in this day and age.

Maybe you should have a look through some of our dear PM's previous columns.
There's bits in there that would make most people cringe

He was an adult.

I doubt any company of that size would be employing someone without checking their social media history, particularly one that has just launched a campaign of diversity and inclusiveness.

Putting something on Twitter is the equivalent of standing on a stage with a microphone in your hand and broadcasting to an audience of strangers.

You're continually missing the point which, given that you think that the ECB are only concerned about this because it's the 'flavour of the week', isn't really that surprising.

I disagree...I do stand up and get paid. Nobody really cares about what I say on social media or what you say on here.

ps. I'm much too balanced and serene to use Twitter.

I don't think it was offensive to anyone

Ah. Here's the difference.
I KNOW this is racist.

“My new Muslim friend is the bomb”
“I wonder if Asian people put smileys like this ¦) #racist”
“Guy next to me on the train definitely has Ebola.”
I can see how someone would take offense at those but what I'm saying is absolutely no one is actually remotely bothered or offended by tweets ten years ago.

A tweet doesn't become less racist over time.
I think the bottom line on this is, he shouldn't have done it in the first place, but we all make mistakes when we're younger.
What he's failed to do is cover his tracks.
I had a twitter account and I'd tweeted over 40,000 times before I came off it. I didn't keep it. I deleted it.

It's common knowledge that employers will check your social media. His just happened to be more public than most people's.

As soon as folk don't dig up ancient tweets and get a life instead. This is the online version of peering over the neighbours fence and get outraged at what they're watching.
If he'd mugged an old lady he'd have been out by now. What's the statute of limitations? 50 years?
Like bodies? 😆

You realise Twitter is a public platform right?

I wouldn't have thought it took much digging.

It's not like someone overheard him having a private conversation down the pub.
