Time, BBC1 tonight (Stephen Graham, Sean Bean)

Watched the first two last night and thought it was excellent. Not always a fan of Sean Bean but it was interesting to seen him play a different type of character to usual.

Should be made compulsory viewing for anyone caught drink driving. I know I wouldn't last 5 minutes inside prison.

there was often a suspicion around people who said they were in for drink driving, as those who were in for a charge where they should have been on the other side of the fence, often tried to intergrate themselves in the general population.

met a fella over 20 years ago now, who had a very good job but made the mistake of the client meal, drinks into the early hours and got behind the wheel a few hours later and killed someone in his vehicle. he felt that he'd been hard done to and was a cut above everyone else, who viewed other inmates as lowlives.

That could easily have been me. I got into a bad drink driving habit about 15 years ago. It starts off with a pint or two after work then becomes three or four and then you think that you can handle more. I once woke up after a works night out an couldn't remember how I'd got home. I then went downstairs to find my car outside with a big dent in the bonnet where I'd hit the garden wall when parking. That scared the life out of me as it would have been prison for certain if I'd hit someone and I never did anything so stupid ever again.

My brother is a prison officer and said there were very few ‘mistakes’ that he noticed. That being said, I still can’t believe they allow them to have pool tables.
I think they all have pool tables. At Whitemoor on a Sunday they get to cook their own breakfasts and as they pass the Muslim cells they want the smell of the bacon and sausages under the doors.

I'll add that they also can only use plastic knives when preparing thier food.

Will be watching it soon. Of course Graham and Bean were together previously in Accused: Tracey's story. Also a Jimmy McGivern script and Bean won a bafta for his role. They were both excellent. Neither exactly playing to 'type' either.

Tracy's Story wiped me out, Bean's performance was just superb 👍🙂

If you liked this and haven't seen it Buried is another prison drama that's excellent. Was on channel 4 so I believe it's on all 4 (Lennie James is in it).
Excellent call, it’s available on all 4
Watched all three now. Absolutely fantastic drama. As said Sean Bean and Stephen Graham were phenomenal.

Three big errors I did notice.

Sean Beans character would never have been made to share a cell with a high risk prisoner on only his second night in jail

I’d be very surprised if a prison chaplain was allowed to walk around with cell keys

can someone tell me how to do the spoiler thing and I’ll post third

Thought it was good, the twist with Stephen Graham was a bit predictable but Sean Bean was good. Some good cameos and thought they did well to limit it to 3 episodes. Leave us wondering to a degree

Would a prisoner officer's son not automatically be put a more safer cell environment outside that shown in the show and I don't necessarily mean solitary or high security but just not with general population?

You are very lucky it was a garden wall and that it made you come to your senses.

I think they’d be given a choice. As it touched on in the program that choice involves the Nonce wings. Prison Officers and ex Police would almost certainly be classed as VP’s; not sure on family though.

I know that was mentioned in the show along with police informers I just thought there might be some middle ground with more established prisoners who were looking to get released or the like.

They aren't errors, prisons are so overcrowded they don't have the luxury of putting everyone into cells where they might be with someone the same as them. If there was an error on that part, good practice would be to have the 'nutter' guy in a single cell as he obviously had history of doing the same thing, but that doesn't always happen. Saying that, I would rather share a cell with a lifer who had been in a bit than some little scrote doing 6 months for assault, while off his face on molly.

The prison chaplains do have keys, and enter cells alone, not sure about Cat A jails like Frankland for example, but certainly in Cat B-D they do.

I thought it was highly accurate, I didn't notice anything that was wrong really, some things were over stated for the telly, but even then, they weren't far off.

I reckon he would know like.....

He entered with other prisoners, generally first time prisoners are kept on a watch the first few days. Last place they would be put is with a high risk prisoner.

we’ll agree to disagree on the Chaplain. Certainly in the two prisons I’ve worked in only Officers have cell keys, may be different in other establishments.

There is also ZERO chance Stephen Graham’s character would have been kept on remand in the prison he worked at.

It was a brilliant drama, but some aspects have been overlooked for dramatic purposes
