Taking the dog for a walk

How does that work, surely they're by your side the whole time not running meters ahead scaring the shit out of children and other dogs?

Mine runs about chasing his ball when we have the space

Most kids like dogs, only a select few are soft as shite

Most kids like dogs who don't attack them. 'soft as shite' is usually what the knuckle dragger dog owners describe their dogs as (when they're attacking other dogs and toddlers).

I don’t understand the ones that pick their dogs up if another goes near them.

One of mine barks at other dogs on her lead but is fine off it, not sure if it’s a protection thing.

It happens far too often. 'he's fine, he's soft of shit' as he's riding your dog and growling attacking your kids.

I once asked someone to put their out of control dog on a leash and he took his top off and started acting like Rocky before a fight.

They get angry when we do that. Like we're doing something wrong because their dog is not under control. Absolute inconsiderate bellends.

You pick your dog up?

Fair enough, but does that happen often? Been walking my dog daily for 8 years and had no bother at all

Happened every single time we walked the dog at Elba. We stopped going there. Not the Rocky thing, but out of control dogs walking a hundred yards ahead of their owners scaring toddlers and mounting dogs.

People walk their death dogs and don't give a toss.

In an ideal world there would be a fenced off area where you and other like minded owners could let your dogs run free.
Christ. No mate they run around sniffing and pissing everywhere and playing with the other dogs we pass. He doesn’t even bother with other humans just strolls past. I don’t restrict him to walking by my side everywhere I actually let him be a dog and have fun. Of course I have him to heal when needed but it’s never often

You are breaking the law if he's not under control. If he has good recall and comes back to you upon request then no harm done. My problem is with those who don't care.

We were there the other day a dog came running over, the one that barks decided to chase it, the dog just went back to its owners.

If we’re unsure we’ll just stick them back on their leads till others pass, most dogs just like a bit of a sniff and quite like the company, I’ve found.

The ones that get picked up don’t have the chance to.

Depends what you define as not under control I suppose. He will come straight back after first recall but if you define it as not walking under my feet everywhere then so be it. 7 year of 2 walks a day most days and not a problem yet, including walking past plenty of police officers.

Mine sniffs at other dogs on leads etc. They're usually no bother.

The law is vague, but if a dog is not responding up recall and instead attacks children and other dogs then he's not under control.

That's nice considerate behaviour. Better than laughing at terrified toddlers and telling them they shouldn't be in the park.

This. I don’t put mine on often but sometimes you can just tell by looking at the other owners behaviour when they notice you

Why do you pick it up with ones that aren’t?

I would rather that than risk his head being mauled off.

If only more people were this considerate.
It would be loads better if certain parks allowed dogs only if they were on a lead. Then everyone would know where to go and where not to go.

Someone mentioned Lambton, that'll be our go to from now on.
