Running thread 2021

I don’t know why they’ve been so keen to go so early, they could’ve easily gone for end of June and not caused the bother for themselves.

I am doing a run the week before parkrun starts and we will be setting off individually every 30 secs to prevent overtaking. I have also had to submit an estimated time.

Following week I can do my local parkrun that normally attracts 500 to 600 runners in a mass start.

My wife is on the core group at Whitley Bay that has been given permission to start and sure she mentioned they need 1 scanner for every 30 runners to get them through the finish funnel as quick as possible. Runners also have to leave the area immediately.

She also mentioned that we won't start unless the nearest parkruns, blyth, rising sun, and the ones in Newcastle also start.

Aye I think I read if they don’t get permission for all they’ll postpone, which makes sense, I love that they want them back on ASAP but a couple of weeks either way isn’t the end of the world.

No chance of all of them being back on because there are vaccination centres set up on some of them but that is being taken into account.
[Edit] That should have been Covid testing centres not vaccination centres.

Awful  Lovely scenic route but some parts were boggy as anything. Rolled my ankle, not badly thankfully. Just jogged/walked round.

I saw a couple from my club tonight who were there yesterday and said it was tough going like, it’s cruel as owt when you think your nearly done and then it goes back into the woods!

The new hill up to Gilesgate was brutal, never been up that way before.

Got my 20 mile training run Sunday, thinking broom park along the lines to Knitsley and back

I hadn’t realised they’d changed the route but I know exactly where you mean, naughty that.

The lines are sound but they are a bit dull, perfect for that distance though.

Is a nice route I got out that way when I did my 50k my 20 miler only gets me past Langly park. Couple of hills and one drag for a mile or so but isnt to hard a route.

Yer I’ve seen you get quite far round on Strava. Mapometer is saying it’s only 500ft gain up to Knitsley so not too bad. Haven’t ran passed Langley park before

I’m in a WhatsApp running group with your cousin and asked if anyone fancies a trot out with me. He’s been very quiet.

Running outside v running on a track v running on a treadmill.

Part of the reason I've started running again, I'm playing with the idea of joining the RAF. Need to be able to run 2.4km in 11.11.

I remember as a kid I did the Royal Marines test of 2.4km in 12:30 then 2.4km in 10:30 and 'passed' on a treadmill but that's the only time I've ever ran on a treadmill.

How do your times change (if at all) if you were to do the same run on the above 3? @D.A ?

You get help from a treadmill and to a lesser extent the track (dependent on the age of it), logically you should be slowest on the roads and quickest on a mill.

track is completely flat and traffic free so that should be the quickest. i never use a treadmill so can't compare.

that's 7:00 minute a mile pace, should be easy if you build up a decent level of fitness - 10:30

its more like 7.24 mins per mile. for 1.5 mile (2400m) would be 11.06
