Rightmove Voyeurism

Love this thread! On a related note, how much do people think some of these houses cost to run (council tax etc)? For example a £1.5m house in Darras Hall etc.

My boss lives in Darras Hall. The Darras Hall Committee made him remove a tree he planted 4 weeks ago because he didn’t run it by them

Wtf? Absolutely bonkers that mind.

They’re weird as out man. If you do anything to change the landscape of your land, it has to be ran by them. He’s had a ginormous extension done, which got instant planning permission. The committee made him change certain things.

Not like them lot to be pretentious.

What would of happened if he didn’t change things seeing as he had planning permission?

They have previous.

Wow. I thought he was taking the mick with some of the stories he’s told me. He lives on the same 3 house street as Sheerarrrrrrr and half my bosses battle with the committee have been to do with ruining Alan’s view of the skyline. I was up his house the other weekend and Alan was in, numberplate on his Range Rover was AS 9. That numberplate probably cost more than my house 😂

How does that work? If you own the property, what the fucks it got to do with them?

It’s got everything to do with them. Some of the rules are insane. Google them. Barmy as out
For a residents committee, I do picture a group of jumped up old fusspots who just like to pick at things to show they have some random power that nobody else could really be arsed with. Pretty much like half the people on that now famous Hanforth District Council video. "You have repainted your front door sunrise red but only sunset red is permitted, if you look closely that is slightly lighter, you will have to change it". Though if they have a solicitor it sounds like they have some legal standing.

There is a woman in my street who would absolutely want to be on such a committee if there was one. She is one of the few in the street born and bread in the town and was one of the first to move into the street, that makes her very special. She did go on at me about something being against the covenants, I can't even remember what it was, something trivial. It might have been when we were thinking of keeping chickens and they say no livestock. I did point out that covenants can only be enacted by the original builder and given he was dead she was unlikely to get anywhere. We didn't in the end but the neighbours did and any sign of a rat (bearing in mind we back on to farm land and an area left wild, so rats and foxes are very common), and it was their chickens to blame.

And yet numerous neo-mansions have been built there over recent years, none of them (IMHO) of any merit. Do they have a say on people ripping down old houses to make way for these?

Covenants in the deeds probably
Another dodgy "en-suite". If you had a decent aim, you probably wouldn't even have to get out of bed for a wee 😂

This is quirky!

No. 2 is my happy space. Cheerful colour, something to look at from every angle, and just the right amount of mess

No idea. I work in Ponteland and drive through the place regularly, each house is different from the next, yet they made my boss change his spec’d windows on his extension to a different type and geberit drain pipes (from all of his geberit bathroom accessories) to cast iron down pipes. On this new extension, he spec’d a particular shade of white for the rendering. They made him change to their shade of white that they preferred. Unreal man
