BBC ditches shows for old people

Name-calling again, cant you simply disagree?

Not when they use idiots like Andrew Lawrence to try and back up their point, no.
I can't "simply disagree" because while I've said their model needs to change but how would be a mammoth task, I've not once seen anyone on the "Defund" side put forward any kind of olive-branch argument

Carry on abusing those with a different opinion then. 👍

Until I see an actual discussion appear rather than them just slagging them off...
Seriously though, I have agreed there needs to be a change. Why exactly have you, the OP or whoever else who doesn't like the current model not put forward any actual suggestions?
Instead we keep seeing different versions of the same thread with no solutions or ideas put forward and it ends up as a slagging match

Why would they it's not in their interest to, the BBC is a profit making organisation it's up to them to adapt or die nobody else. The British public owe them nothing.

To be honest I think the old people in this country have had it far too good for far too long. They bought up all the property cheap and refuse any measures to alleviate the housing crisis, repeatedly voted for governments that they thought would protect their assets while making life harder for the young, and selfishly inflicted Brexit on the young, knowing full well they will be dead soon yet the young lose their rights to work and live across Europe.

As far as I’m concerned if the the BBC have decided the entitled elderly don’t have yet another crappy bargain hunt / cooking show to watch then boo f***ing hoo.

History will not look back favourably on the boomer generation.

 get back in the friggin politics forum you loon.

Every time I put the BBC on it's rammed with stuff like bargain hunt, the repair shop, pointless, ready steady cook etc, if that's not grade A pensioner telly I don't know what is.
I don't watch any of those programmes, they're all shite, like most of what they put out . Do they actually count audiences for crap like that ?

Speaking as a boomer,

I used to defend the bbc to the hilt, but nowadays there’s just as many adverts (for their own stuff) on there as there is on itv or ch4. They’ve even started adding ‘news stories’ into the 6 o’clock news about programmes that are coming up later in the week and have fuck all to do with the news! ‘How I control my stammer’ one prime example from the past few weeks!

I’m not exactly “young” anymore (36) but I only watch BBC programs on iPlayer. Louis Theroux and the odd Crime drama (Line of Duty etc), and breakfast news on a Saturday, is all I really watch on BBC these days unless there’s football on.
You're probably too intelligent to watch most of the shite they broadcast .

Instead of Auntie sending round the bully boys and prosecuting single mothers and old people. The BBC could become subscription only. Netflix/Sky/Prime simply switch off people who don't pay. Why cant the BBC?

What olive branch is needed?

Once analogue transmission has been switched off then a subscription model would be fairly easy to implement

Some news and documentaries free to air (if it it was deemed necessary) and entertainment/drama on commercial channels etc.

Could even have BBC free to air paid by adverts.

The BBCs flagship Saturday night program is a ballroom dancing show that was presented by an octogenarian until he dropped. It’s followed by a hospital drama and then the news. The following morning is more news, politics, church stuff, antiques, countryside and more ballroom dancing during the evening.

Daytime weekday TV is news, property development, antiques, a soap opera and quizzes.

Is that the BBC abandoning old folk?
If only they would .
