Beer gardens in the town?

Unless the weather turns for the better, i don't think there's not going to be a great deal of demand for drinking in a car park!
Depends on the set up. It's pretty common in countries like Poland and Czech Republic during winter months. Plenty of heaters and should be ok. The wind is probably the biggest factor here.

Said this before. Sports bars are a gamble. I love a sports bar mind. However, it’s hard for them to succeed, lasses aren’t going to go into a sports bar, lads go where lasses are. That said champs in Washy has succeeded.

They would be far better off turning revolution into a sports bar.

Sounds utter shit. Town struggles for a decent beer garden.
The ground floor of Revolution is being turned into a sports bar by the people who own The Rabbit.

Its mostly in the shade on that street isn't it?

Well it’s south, maybe just slightly more south east, facing so I’m sure it gets plenty through the afternoon and a bit into the evening before it goes into shade - more so towards the Victors end and at the side where the steps up to the Minster are. Like I say I’m sure I’ve sat/stood out in the sun there plenty of times before gigs and on match days. If they were allowed to stretch down a little further to where the empty Bud Bigalows stands it’s a lot more open there so the sun would last a bit longer into the evening than it would further up in the other direction. I presume they’ve been given permission to extend out more on to that path otherwise I can’t see how it would be financially viable for them, with (as you or someone else said) just the half a dozen or so tables they usually have in that fenced off area right outside the bar. Plus if Cooper Rose can get permission to open theirs where that is I can’t see why that path outside Victors would be refused.

A quick look out of my bedroom window this morning would suggest that they’re expanding the area for seating outside of Justice and Angelo’s Restaurant on West Sunniside.
Could do with being a bit warmer mind or it could be like this

Based on the weather the past couple of nights this could be positively optimistic.

The good thing about Low Row is it's already pedestrianised so should be no problem to set up gardens. Same with Park Lane.

All down to having too many there at peak times I suppose. We've got plenty of areas that could be filled with tables (Keel Square and the grass where the leisure centre was). Problem is I doubt that the council will want crowds gathered. I'm not disagreeing with your idea, I can't wait to see places packed again. I just think they'll be wanting to go with the slow easing of the restrictions.

Problem with the area on the old leisure centre is that you'd have to either set up a portable bar or only flog bottles/cans as it's too far to carry pints from any pubs. In a bigger city I reckon that site would have been snapped up for temporary use as one of these Stacks places or similar. It's big enough and really well connected.

Aye maybe mate, but as I’ve said if Cooper Rose can get permission to make a beer garden out of essentially an alley then I don’t see how anywhere else in town could be objected providing tables are spaced adequately enough. Far more chance of having people more closely packed together there than there would be on Low Row, Keel Square, Park Lane or the Crowtree site.

i think the fact that this clamour for outside space is only going to be relevant for 5 weeks, might be putting a lot of places off putting too much effort in. especially given the uncertainty over the weather. the next 5 weeks will be fun no doubt, and we'll all remember april 2021 when we all sat outside freezing just to have a pint, when its lovely weather in the summer and we're all crammed inside pubs just because we can
