Astra Zeneca

Why? I don't care if it gave a me an arse like the Sarlacc I would snap your hand off for an AZ vaccine jab.
because i don't think I'm at any risk from covid and don't particularly want to take a vaccine i don't believe i need. plus when they've been saying for weeks no link, no link etc and now change all the guidelines it makes you think twice.

if it's going to be required to get back to some form of normality i.e. vaccine passports then yeah i would get it. if it's not though i think i'd rather wait until a guarantee of something other than AZ

I see where you are coming from. It's a personal choice but if you would be prepared to take it just to get a vaccine passport then you might as well just get it. The Vaccine Passport situation is by no way what I'd call normality mind.

the term normality was a bit loose but you know what I meant ha

as someone just over 30 makes me think twice about getting it to be honest. i know the risk is incredibly low but the same could be said about covid itself for someone my age
Think about the risks of long covid as well though. It's a right bastard.

These are not easy choices and no one should browbeat others into making them though. All any of us can do is access the best possible advice and information from credible sources and make our minds up.

And the same applies to those who will live with permanent disability as a result of covid. Be interesting to see how many tin foilers are fucked by covid in a generation or so.

I just had an email about this - they are setting up clinics locally for this very purpose and calling it PACS now (Post Actute Covid Syndrome) from the stats where I work they estimate 75% of people hospitalized and 10% of non hospitalized will develop PACS.

Numbers seem very high to me but I suspect those with minimal symptoms/ aymptomatic wont be in those %ages

From my patients I have had roughly 25 cases and 2 with long term symptoms (none in hospital) so it may not be way off the mark

They still don't have a direct link. Working hypothesis of the vaccine maybe creating an immune response but as yet they have nothing definitive.

Some good news for at least 2 of the vaccines.
The AZ one isn't the same 'type' is it (I think the others are mRNA)? Hopefully the AZ one does prevent those aspects, otherwise this is going to rumble on for a long long time.

Echoing others' concerns, I'm 33, so I know there needs to be a cut off at some point, but it seems rather arbitrary that it's not OK for someone 3 years younger than me, but no issues for me?

They've offered advice, its up to people to make their own minds up.

You've answered your own question really.

Same way that the Germans deemed AZ was fine for someone 64 years old, but not for a 65 year old.

I think it's also somewhat dependent on what's available within your area, and/or at the time. My parents are down in the midlands and were given the Pfizer one (which I'd have tomorrow if one was offered).

Let's assume that when my time comes up, it's AZ or nothing. Logical/statistical thing to do is to just go get the jab, but I'd much sooner have one of the other ones.

Missus has got her next AZ one at the Centre for Life towards the end of the month and she's still here so hopefully it is mainly unfounded concern.
