scotch

Striker
Feel like we've got more questions than answers from this series.
Malan can he bat 3
Is Bairstow wasted at 4
Where is Stokes best position, is he even in the best team?
Morgan had a poor strike rate batting lower down the order
Sam Curran neither here or there in either department
Jordan, is he good enough in India
We need a 2nd spinner in there
Hales, Root, Banton, Livingstone all pushing for a place

Questions answered -
Tom Curran not good enough
Buttler set for opener

.

im starting to look at Stokes being not an absolute certainty on form. I feel he doesn’t quite know what to bowl or when to let loose in batting.

he is a fantastic player though and I hope we see better in the future.

Roy has so much ability but has a tendency to play an horrendous shot when there is no reason.

I feel malan has done enough to get in the wc squad

im concerned with the none use of moeen and topley in this series. I’d like a left armer for the wc.

archer and wood will be in the squad imo

Bairstow doesn’t look good at 4. I’d rather swap him and Buttler but well aware that’s not a possibility with how good Buttler is at the top of the order.

Stokes and Curran are a waste of shirts at the moment. The problem with Stokes I feel is that he needs time to play himself in before he goes big, he’s not someone to come in and just start teeing off. Batting at 6 he’s never really going to get that luxury.

The bowling is a concern outside of the big three Wood, Archer and Rashid. Jordan is poor and likely only in the team ahead of some others because he’s one of the best fielders in the world. The rest are fodder at this level.

We can't split up Roy/Buttler, and if we do it'll be to replace one of them with Hales, so for me Bairstow misses out - he isn't a 4. He either opens, where he's class, or he doesn't play (and that's not me trolling nor because I don't like him!)

Big question marks over Stokes. Doesn't do anything in T20

Sammy won't do much in India

Desperately need another spinner to supplement Rash

i dont think the team that started wont be far off the first match when the wc comes around

jordan, scurran, tcurran, moeen, topley, willey, hales, anyone else ive not mentioned in the squad, to be mixed and matched

can jordan get in for his fielding?

I've always seen Jordan as a good T20 bowler, but he's been a real weak link in the attack this series

The way we've treated Plunkett is an absolute disgrace IMO
Yeah he was a key player in a World Cup winning team.
We have still got a great team but I don’t think this series has helped much. We have nobody to finish an innings off which has been exposed in the 3 games we lost. I’d have Buttler there to do it but Morgan seems to think he has to open

that is the problem with no hales. buttler could move down

Hales
JRoy
Malan
Buttler
Morgan
Stokes????

For me like

Yep I agree. I’d probs go Root at 3 based on what he did in the last T20 World Cup and he provides another spin option but that’s very harsh on Malan who hasn’t done much wrong. Any 2 of Roy/Hales/Bairstow opening they’re all excellent

Think with Buttler is that he will score opening but so will hales, Bairstow, Roy and countless others. There’s no one else who will score in the middle for us. Don’t think Roy will score on slower pitches so he’s out for me. Probably the same for Jonny.

I’d move stokes to open where he was IPL MVP and has numerous 100s. I’d also bring Hales back into the side, and root.

Stokes
Hales
Malan
Root
Morgan
Buttler

I think having stokes and root lets you bring in a 7th bat if needed, but probably rather have the bowling option. Bowling wise, think Woakes and Wiley both have to be contenders and should be our 3/4th seamers - depending on whether you want 3/2 seams and spins or 4/1. Then Ali is the obvious second spinner in T20.

So:

Ali/Woakes
Wiley
Wood
Archer
Rashid

For me
