Astra Zeneca

So you choose a less effective vaccine to shorten your wait, but before you were choosing a vaccine because it was more effective. Just admit that you are politically motivated to refuse the AZ.
Just admit that you have managed to spectacularly misunderstand what he has stated so far, which is very clear.
This thread developed nicely tbh, Alex is a top lad and not a wum or loon at all, it just goes to show how the EU and it's propaganda against the AZ vaccine has got in peoples heads.
Alex is mint, no doubt. But it's not propaganda or anything that has led him to his decision, it is the early data.

Quite frankly until I read people's responses on here I was of the understanding also that AZ was an inferior vaccine, but for someone like me I can happily still accept that. If I were in Alex's shoes I would also be thinking hard about whether I want a jab that I legitimately believe to be inferior based on data I have read.

If its true that AZ is now comparable to the others then I'm happy about that. The blood clot thing seems to be a load of bollocks

Can't find where I first read it but apparently figures for reported clots after receiving the Pfizer vaccine are only slightly less, and both are less than would be expected in the general population anyway.

Here's something I found googling. Should You Be Concerned About Blood Clots, Bleeding and the AZ-Vaccine?

Britain’s data found that at least some clotting conditions, while extremely rare, were equally prevalent for people vaccinated with AstraZeneca’s vaccine compared to those who got Pfizer’s product.

We need to get it out of our heads that one vaccine is inferior to any other. They are all there to do a job and they can all do it effectively.

I had mine yesterday. No side effects whatsoever bar being a bit tired last night. Arm feels quite achey, but that's the same from any jab.

Absolutely no side effects
You got (trying to think of a suitable word without sounding like a **** ;) ) a “condition” then mate? Or are London into the 20s already?

I also base my decision on my health history.

I am in group five (of twelve) and they began jabbing group three here few weeks back so not too long a wait now. Anyway, this fred has taught me as well that if you are on blood thinning meds you won't get the AZ. I didn't know that. That means I don't even have to make a decision at all as that rules me out.

At the end of the day it all comes down to trust and what you feel most comfortable about.

And the Pfizer vaccine is that safe if you are on blood thinners? Im far from sure as I was asked if I was on blood thinners when I had the Pfizer jab

Serious question.

If the member states of the EU have blocked the use of it, presumably AZ will stop supplying it as there are plenty of places that will use it?

Or will the EU kick off if they do!
Italy is simultaneously preventing the export of supplies and keeping it for themselves, and refusing to use it.

It will be probably used when they have built up sufficient stock so they can roll out their vaccine programme properly. Then over time the electorate will forget what a shit show they have made of it.

I will eat hay with a donkey if the EU countries arnt continuing with the az rollout when it is deemed now "safe" in a couple of days or so.
The European Medicines Agency comfirmed there is "no indication" the AstraZeneca vaccine causes blood clots.

Whilst 500 died today!
On what data is available, there may be a pattern forming amongst the hardest lockdown countries, but we need another three months before anything definate can be proved.
Individual countries will be suspending az for that next.
I know you jest, but when Merkel, with naff all knowledge of viruses says AZ is not suitable for a women of her age, equally as dumb people listen.
