Astra Zeneca

The test results I read at the end of last year showed seventy per cent for AZ's first jab and up to ninety after the second jab. It is still lower than the other twos of ninety-five and ninety-four and I would have to wait up to three months to be covered up to just ninety. Why would I choose to wait much longer for my second jab only to get a lesser effectiveness.
Tbh if you can choose, and you have rational why, thats fair enough.
Obviously if everyone chose then it would slow down the vaccination programme with the result that you're more likely to be infected by other people and any delay that you get may result in you being more likely to be infected.

I hope we never go down the route of choosing which vaccine you get as it would have a huge negative effect, as shown by the disastrous EU vaccine programme and the lack of take up on the AZ vaccine

No, but you would like to know why some people are getting severe blood clots. For example, if people with high blood pressure or cystic fibrosis are more at risk, don't give it to them.
I'm not sure if they are giving it to those groups as a potential for clotting has been known for a while, so maybe one of the others but later.

Purely based on how effective the vaccines are. Pfizer and Moderna show ninety-five and ninety-four percentages respectively, the AZ shows seventy. With my health issues I prefer one that covers me the most. It isn't about being Anti-British or anything silly like that, it is purely based on how I feel the other two would be better for me personally. And that was my feelings even before my country suspended the AZ.

Also, I would rather only wait two weeks for my second jab than up to three months.
AZ 84% after 2nd dose - 100% against serious illness;

That was trial results. Real world effectiveness is higher for AZ - I suspect because the other vaccines are harder to handle and effectiveness diminishes rapidly at temperatures above minus 70.

It’s not the end of last year anymore though is it and there is now considerable Evidence from vaccination programmes where considerably more people have been given th e vaccine than in any trial conducted that the AZ vaccine is a very effective vaccine at least equivalent to any other product available.

I understand you basing your decision on the data available but why on earth would you make such an important decision based on out of date data

So you choose a less effective vaccine to shorten your wait, but before you were choosing a vaccine because it was more effective. Just admit that you are politically motivated to refuse the AZ.

This thread developed nicely tbh, Alex is a top lad and not a wum or loon at all, it just goes to show how the EU and it's propaganda against the AZ vaccine has got in peoples heads.
I wouldn't say propaganda got in his head, he based his decision on the trial figures. At the time it was probably the best and only information he had, if he still wishes to use them figures then I understand but now with real world figures showing different he may change. I just hope he can get a vaccine soob and thats the same for everyone in eu and the world. The sooner everyone is vaccinated the better.

Plus AZ were far more thorough with their trials, actually testing participants rather than relying on self reporting. If the others followed similar trails then I wouldn't be surprised if their reported effectiveness dropped somewhat.

Currently no evidence of clotting due to the vaccine, investigations ongoing, whilst Europe is suffering.
So what reason realistic could it be.

Correctly decided that the vaccine cause blood clots.
Europe deciding that it’s economic reasons against the UK.

I expect the UK now to be up and running a few months ahead of Europe, already announcing relaxations when other EU countries are tightening restrictions.
Are they desperate to influence there citizens that the UK are ahead only because of an inferior vaccine, and not because we are independent of the EU now.
Assume the decision to stop AZ in certain countries allows others to get more.

As a side note, I stopped my anti blood clotting drug 2 days after having the AZ vaccine, I was only allowed to take it for 12 months anyway.
Unknown of course to these side effect allegations, I’m still here 4 weeks later.

I also base my decision on my health history.

I am in group five (of twelve) and they began jabbing group three here few weeks back so not too long a wait now. Anyway, this fred has taught me as well that if you are on blood thinning meds you won't get the AZ. I didn't know that. That means I don't even have to make a decision at all as that rules me out.

At the end of the day it all comes down to trust and what you feel most comfortable about.

Serious question.

If the member states of the EU have blocked the use of it, presumably AZ will stop supplying it as there are plenty of places that will use it?

Or will the EU kick off if they do!
