Are the countries pulling this vaccine over reacting to a tiny number of side effects that should be expected, where there isn’t total proof it’s the vaccine causing issues? Is it just political? Booked in for mine Thursday and after no trepidation at all, am suddenly a little uneasy. Should I be? Don’t obviously even know if I would be offered that one, but now having niggling thoughts about it..

There is a tiny sliver of doubt so 11 countries are erring on the side of caution for a few weeks to be doubly sure. It is the same as when an Airbus has an unusual engine fault, often the entire world wide fleet of that model ends up being grounded, then they find out what it was, nothing to worry about and people are off flying again.

Except when you stop aircraft flying, no one dies. When you stop vaccinating, people die.

There is that side, but they are pressing on with other vaccinations.

So do you think countries are deliberately letting people die by stopping this vaccine? If so, why?
The same people banging on saying they'll take their chance with a 99% recovery rate are now banging on about how it's too much of a risk with a 0.002% chance of a blood clot.
:D I hadn't thought of it like that, but you are spot on.

My opinion is they are trying to hide their cockups, delay the roll out for a couple of weeks, then they will have enough to properly get the ball rolling.

This is my take on it as well.

I would believe it was precautionary if they suspended the Pfizer rollout as well with a similar thromboembolic event ratios. (Not sure on other vaccines results) But they are focusing on one, which just happens to be the one the messed up the procurement procedure with, and got into a contract spat which shows they ballsed that up as well.

The side affects are well documented and have been from the start. Why now? It certainly does make a good smokescreen whether that is the aim or not, who knows for certain?

The events should absolutely be investigated though but as others have said the cost of suspension is probably more deaths have been stopped.

Doesn't stop any country in the world administrating the contraceptive pill.

You don’t get a choice mate, it’s either let them use what they’ve got or fuck off

I had two blood clots in the heart four years ago and am on heart meds for life. Regardless of what any possible new findings show one way or another am I fuck getting this one. I didn't want it in the first place and there is no chance am getting it now. I prefer one of the other two. That isn't politics or anything else shouted about willy-nilly in these freds, it's personal. If that makes me a snowflake or whatever, fine.

Seems to be certain batches that are being investigated - belgium, cz and the ones continuing havent received any from the affected batches so are still issuing it

Thinking about this it could be political, but not in an anti British or arse covering way.

I have no idea how the blood clot story has been covered in foreign media. I imagine it's possible, or even likely, equivalents of the Sun or Mail are whipping out horror stories.

If that's the case stories about the AZ vaccination could be causing refusals and lowering take-up rates of all vaccines further affecting the roll-out.

With that in mind despite the WHO, EU and British regulators saying its fine, and the rate of blood clots being no higher than you'd expect to see in the population, being seen to err on the side of caution on this vaccination could be a way to improve take-up.

Anyway, it's just a thought.
