F1 2021

Rumours of Williams becoming Alpine's junior team to blood their academy drivers. I'm not convinced that will happen, unless Renault cough up some serious money to replace pay drivers.
That powertrain deal with Mercedes till 2025 not an issue, or the recent agreement to take the merc gearbox anarl?
Turns out the punishment wasn't some behind-closed-doors thing at all
I read as the FIA didn’t punish them at all, they did it to themselves with an engine that was a poor performer on normal fuel flow?

But he states they weren't allowed to use the engine to its full power because of Ferrari but they will be this season

Sometimes F1 drives me mad.

The politics have always been overpowering and still are today.

There must be thousands of people who have been burnt by them - drivers/owners/investors etc.

Maybe that’s why the FIA did not disclose the Ferrari judgment details - to create an illusion of a pure sport with gentlemen racers and all is well.

It seems it’s anything but that.

Did anyone see the photos from silverstone that red bull released? I couldn’t understand why Max flew in to the UK to drive last years car? Appears they did run this years car but only with all the cameras off suggesting there’s something ‘special’ from newey in there somewhere...

also, how did Max fly into Birmingham yesterday without having to quarantine? I’ve seen mick schumacher posting about being in quarantine before he can go to the Haas factory?

Complete waste of time, the unveilings. May as well leave it until pre-season testing.
the sponsors would disagree... the way tracing point\aston martin have trailed their new image all winter is a case in point, now it'll have flashes of pink to go with the british racing green with bwt signing up again.

The only thing worse is pointless interviews with drivers - they never say anything of worth.

I understand why but listening to some kid blurt out corporate rubbish is bland and uninteresting.

Imagine how tedious it is for them too...
Absolutely- they must hate it. Imagine being asked the same dull question 20 times in 4 different languages. They must hate these unveiling events - not on proper tyres, not the real car, driving slowly.

I suppose the 20 million they get paid might be some mitigation!!!!

The 'filming days' are real enough, but they are limited to only doing a total of 100 kilometres, so they end up more as a familiarisation tool for the drivers and a chance to produce short videos to keep the fans happy.

McLaren, despite appearing the most open of teams at times has done some magic trickery with their new bargeboards, they put 2020 ones on for the reveal, and at the official photo from the filming day, photoshopped out the entire section.

The Race did a video about it, really dragging out the point.

or they get coy about being paid 20 million and binning a ferrari on your second go in one...

Asked during Ferrari's team launch on Friday about the test and if he had crashed, Sainz remained coy, saying details from the running had to remain private.
"Obviously Pirelli testing is completely private," Sainz said.
"So honestly, answering questions that are coming from somewhere else is difficult for me. I don't know how much we can tell contractually about what happened in the test.
"But if something happened that I'm not going to tell you, it was very minor."

is anyone following formula e this season? I tried it a few years ago when they had to do car swaps and it all felt very forced. FIrst race of the season is about to kick off.

wasn't photoshopped at all, they lighten the image and it's just scribbled over with a finger on phone picture editing interface!
