The sol improvements

The bars and concourses are crap, but it’s too late to do much now. Murray built it like that. Cramped, dark and dingey

I’m sure you could build a lean to sort of structure around the south and east stands and make the concourse bigger. You could even block in the walkway under the north stand to widen the terrace.Doesn’t take that much imagination.

I think he means the place would be more impressive if the main entrance etc were on the east side of the ground, rather than facing the river where most people will never see it.

that always struck me as odd, but my guess is it was designed with the dignitaries/visiting guests/potential signings in mind rather than us riffraff. If you’re driven to the main entrance and ushered into one of the suites or boxes you get a lovely view out over the river rather than a one of the retail park and Joans cafe as you would if the stadium was flipped.

they should do something With the East stand exterior tbf. Just aesthetically it looks very dull and unimpressive.

All top business men have a corporate strategy and plan for years ahead. I do feel he will add concourse to the West Stand or possibly South and he won't just wait till club reaches prem to do it.

Changes will happen each season starting with small hits like clean ups/ fresh paints , kiosk upgrades and PA. Then I think covered sections around ground with drink and food courts.

Why increase the capacity of a stadium you are not filling? More maintenance costs and expensive. Not suggesting we don’t do it in the future but a half empty shell won’t create much of an atmosphere. I would argue the concourse extension was a mistake.

Most important aspects of a football club:

Football
Fans
Future
Facilities

Biggest areas of neglect under Donald:

Football
Fans
Future
Facilities

KLD just needs to get the basics right. As he pointed out Donald gutted, asset stripped, cut back, neglected, penny pinched on all of the above. No the wonder we went backwards under him with every passing month.

Never bought a pint in there for years as too much hassle. Those mega fast pour taps and contactless payments would help

The whole of the corporate facilities need a complete overhaul it’s like a 3 star hotel and this should be the real money maker

move the shop and stick another black cats style bar in there

reconfigure the seating in and have more wider premium seats

that would be a start

extending out the south and east concourses to the widest point of the roof should be achievable- but at what cost/benefit

Would have been the ideal time to get the away fans shifted. Lower North Stand, a couple of blocks would do for most, leave the North Upper for them if required.

Like Man City do, tall thin away section rather than a mass of empty seats.

Another bright idea from Twit and Twat was to introduce those f***ing wristbands for the sports bar which effectively killed the whole atmosphere of the place. Went from being full and jumping every game (because they used to let a few extras sneak in) to soulless and lifeless with just a handful of people in. I get that some people have paid a lot of money for the privilege of using it but it hasn’t half killed it off doing that especially in League 1.

On a warm day the temperature of the East Stand can resemble that of a summers day in Magaluf. A glass roof would ramp things up a fair few notches. A retractable roof would be a fantastic addition but as others have said, investment needs to be concentrated on the playing staff long before we discuss the roof and monorail.

No marra. I would have described it as 'classical' ;)

IFair enough. I much preferred the old place myself. The SOL is a soulless lump of concrete in comparison.

The back of the Clock Stand actually trapped a bit of warmth even on a cold night.

There is nowhere to hide from the cold in the SOL.

From what I remember, I think the main entrance had to be on the west stand as it was to do with grants the club got to help fund the construction as it was deemed to be development of the riverside after the pit closed
