LGBT+ awareness month

There is a similar sub-culture among gay men toward bi-sexual men. In fact the most negativity I have come across, apart from the occasional beatings and broken bones from others, have come from gay men. And I have never understood that.
Human nature... Every "tribe" has to have an enemy unfortunately.

watched ' its a sin ', if that helps

Didn't paint a nice picture. The main bloke knew he was riddled and still went bareback on loads of other gadgies, purposely sentencing them to the most horrific death sentence.
Been told to "get a room" or similar loads of times.

Never been threatened with violence or the like obviously.

A lesbian couple I know always have pissed up wankers telling them to kiss etc so they tend to stick to gay bars.

You raise a good point.

Gay blokes definitely get the worst of it.

As someone from the LGBTQ+ group, it's a made up event that isn't celebrated at all in the community and I've never heard of it until this year and tbh if I never heard of it again then I wouldn't care neither. Just another event for the same companies to jump on the bandwagon and pretend they give a toss for some extra sales who accidentely forgot about it last year or had NHS stuff with the pride flag aka Morrisons, M&S and a lot more.

LGBTQ+ month is June (Pride month). We don't need another one.

Pretty much all events are made up events mate.

Aye ana I just meant it in the sense that's there's no reason for it being there. June makes sense as it's when the Stonewall Riots were so it's celebrating that. There's nothing in February so it's just random, worded that badly tbh.

Conspiracy time.

This is the Gay Agenda.

Awareness month in February
Pride in June.

In a few years August will become Gay Appreciation month.

By 2030 September will be Pansexual Appreciation Month and Trans Tribute month.

By 2050 every month celebrates an aspect of the LGBTQ+ coalition, and they will be so entrenched the straights are treat like 80s gays at best and uighurs at worst.

Too busy with the 2nd Black History ‘Month’ in the last year at our work - apparently we mark it twice, just to dilute the impact (iirc from HR).

Everyone is also forced to join at least one diversity and inclusion group to get a bonus next year - no better way to improve tolerance than to force people to be tolerant iirc

I think I'll go gay, get myself a bear. Will be canny to act the twat knowing there's a big strong man to protect me.

I'd argue that "fairly tolerant" isn't enough and the fact that you've trivialised the matter by comparing it to ketchup in the fridge and crisps proves that a lot of work still needs to be done.
For the vast majority of people in the UK no more work needs to be done. For most there is no issue at all.

For the very small amount of people who are outwardly hostile there will be little or nothing that can be done. Just like people who drop litter, people who don't work, people who get asbos (if that is a thing anymore), etc etc. Virtually impossible to get intolerance down to zero.
are you really in a position to say that everyone is fine with it?

Do you think two girls walking down the road holding hands arent subjected to snide remarks?

Most people might be "ok" with it but most gay people I know myself included don't show outward signs of affection towards our partners in public because there's always going to be someone there who will have something to say

You dont have to deal with that, why should I ?
To be fair I'm not that keen on anyone who isn't living with their parents showing affection in public. Always seems a bit show offy.

I agree that things have definitely improved but there is still an awful long way to go and there is a crowd of bigots of whom you will never change, but I don't agree that awareness programs like this are unnecessary just because you will never get zero non-acceptance. The long game definitely needs playing.

Is it "show offy" to hold hands in public?

What is the awful long way to go? Vast majority of people don’t care whether some is gay or not.

How do you think an EPL footballer would be received if they came out and why do you think no one has come out to date? And this isn't just about gay people either, what about trans folks? There are still many people with poor attitudes towards them.

Funnily enough, I was having the same conversation with my daughter today. I certainly wouldn't be the first one to come out because of the media hysteria. (I'm not gay and I'm shite at football as well)

The vast majority of supporters would not raise an eyebrow. Maybe, I'm wrong but I don't think I am.

I think I would probably have a "poor" attitude trans folks. Depending on your definition of poor.
