CRC / colonoscopy advice

I can't stand the taste of that. And having to have it so frequently 😩

Tastes like nowt else eh. First sup isn’t that bad but by the fifth or 6th glass you’re begging for it to be done.

Last one I had was 2019. It’s all coming back me now!
Bovril counts as clear fluid and it's filling. I usually drink Bovril instead of a meal.

This was a phenomenal shout Becs. Hot cup of Marmite for me tea, in between frequent trips to the throne of course. Quality.

I thought Mrs Dreadnought was being very considerate when she said she'd bought me some wipes to use after the savage and very messy effects of the laxatives kicked in.

I thought she was referring to those Andrex refreshing arse cleaning wipes. But no, she got me domestos netty cleaners instead! Who said romance was dead!

I opted for the gas and air rather than a sedative, and only felt the odd bit of discomfort despite the consultant telling me I had a "long and complicated bowel"!

I also got a cheap laugh out of the gadgy who shoved the camera up me jacksy when he said he would first of all check the entrance to my anus with his finger. I said steady on old boy, we've only just met!

I’ve had a high FIT test so being sent for the camera up me claypipe.
Anyone had this? Advice? Sedative needed?
Yes been there, had to drink this stuff the night before to clear out the pipes, the instructions said to stay near a bog, nowt happened for a couple of hours but jeeezus when it did it was like a tidal wave
procedure was ok was sedated, and I got some canny pics of what look like caves in Wales

burst out laughing reading this on the lav (just the 10th visit of the evening)

I opted for the gas & air at the 11th hour because I didn’t want to be waiting around afterwards. It was nee bother to be honest. It’s the pumping you full of air that’s the bugger, if you please. I was literally like this >>>

This is a good one - rocked up at 9.30am for my colonoscopy procedure today only to be told I’d been taken off the list because someone had allowed my covid swab to “leak” and it couldn’t be conclusively negative. Spoke to them twice on the phone yesterday, no mention of this swab error, all fine and proceeding as planned. Refused to let me take a lateral flow test as well. Nurses blaming the admin, admin blaming the nurses. Swab up the shooter and down the throat, 3 days in complete isolation, nothing to eat for 24 hours beforehand and 20 volcanic shites later: fuck all to show for it. Thanks NHS!

Massively stressed, feeling pretty knackered and sorry for myself rather than angry. My usual magnanimous self would say these things happen / nobody’s fault but given the timeline of events - it’s very much someone’s fault 😬

Moviprep again. Sounds like Bonfire neet, derby day inside the Sol AND the air show all happening at once in our gaff right now. Deafening.
I suppose I was luckier than I felt at the time to be coming out of a bout of tummy bug just before I had to then prep for a colonoscopy so there was nothing to shift out
good luck with it, fentanyl is bloody marvellous

I’ve got one of these ‘camera up the hoop’ procedures coming in the next few weeks
Not sure if I feel better or worse after reading this thread
Yes I do, a lot worse
They have pretty much said they aren’t suspecting anything nasty but can’t totally rule it out without the camera
Got private health care through work so wondering whether to go via Nuffield to do it

Glad you've bumped this thread, it's reminded me I must call the hospital to arrange a Colonoscopy (I have the pack in the house but I cancelled the last appointment as I hadn't been vaccinated). I've got Lynch syndrome, I really shouldn't put this shit off any longer as I'm fully vaccinated now.
Good luck tomorrow, the Moviprep is the worst part in my opinion xx

I found it's not as good as a morphine and pethadine concoction I used to get, Fentanyl didn't get me that high tbh.

I've had about 8 over the years, the bowel prep is the worst part tbh xx good luck !

Had my procedure at Shields about a month ago. No sedation as I couldn’t be arsed (pardon the pun) to have to hang around after for someone to pick me up. The procedure itself was a little uncomfortable but the most horrendous part of the whole thing was the bowel prep. Had a big breakfast prior to starting the prep so the fasting wasn’t even that much of an issue. Nor was the constant backwards and forwards to the toilet and the ring sting that accompanied those trips. For me it was the taste of the moviprep and the sheer volume that had to be consumed.
Nothing sinister on the scope with a few precautionary biopsies taken.
For anyone reading this though, in the grand scheme of things these annoyances are simply minor inconveniences and should not deter anyone from having the procedure done.

I would go for picolax instead of the moviprep just for the shear volume like you say. Moviprep is like drinking litres of a cross between saline fluid and sea water.
Picolax is pretty violent like but tastes not too bad. It makes cold water warm in the glass that's how strong it is. When it starts working it certainly clears you out.

It's the volume of liquid with the moviprep that I can't do. The second last time I had one, I vomited the last glass back up as I'd had enough ☺️

I got picolax last time which was much better, so I'm going to ask for that next time.
