Cole Kitchen

Where exactly is this? Explain it to a lad who grew up in sr3, had my 20s in Sr4 and now live in Dh5.
Sr George’s terrace. Head towards roker hotel from town. Take left before hotel. It’s on right.
Sorry, disagree - £9 for a sarnie in a cafe in Roker is vastly over priced no matter how you care to twist things..
It’s not over priced at all. Like I said Sunderland mentality is cheaper the better. Owt over the price of a meal deal or spoons pint and burger and people moan.

A £9 sarnie is expensive like. I cant comment on if its worth it as not had it. But that is expensive for a takeaway bait.

Coffee in Cole is absolutely superb. I'll get one to wake up tomorrow I think.

Nowt to do with Sunderland mentality.
Just a realistic take on whether you're getting the piss taken out of you for a few ingredients in between a couple of slices of bread in the surroundings of an end of terrace cafe in Sunderland.
Fools and their money are easily parted.

agree, has absolutely nowt to do with a local mentality. £9 for a takeaway sandwich is ludicrous surely even in the most affluent areas of the country.

depends what’s in it to some extent? If it’s got fillet steak and truffles in it then 9 quid sounds like a bargain. Generally speaking I don’t disagree with you though, I’m not paying 9 quid to eat a sandwich in the street .

true. Although I suspect that anything sounding mildly exotic at this place will have probably been procured from the deli counter at Aldi at a pittance.

I kind of agree, it’s got nowt to do with the location of the place mind. £9.00 for a sit in sarnie is reasonable, bit salad etc. For a takeaway sarnie, unless it’s prime rump that’s expensive. For some cheese, pastrami and gherkins, £9.00 sounds ridiculous.

I’m prepared to try one though to see how good it is.

Another thumbs up from me. I can recommend the tea if you're not into coffee.
I usually call in when me or wifey and me do our coast cycle ride. Not been lately though, as takeaway is not for me.
Dinnar how they survive with such a small place. It's the place that used to be Fausto, before they moved down to the seafront.
Me and the wife will be back when covid has f**ked off.

Whilst I generall agree that @Butcher's Coat is a right Ebeneezer, 9 quid for a takeaway sarnie (shouldn't matter where the shop is mind) is pretty expensive. Sounds mint tho so might give it a try next time I'm over that way. But haway. 9 quid?
If it looks out of this world I’d maybe go for it but I can’t see how a bit cheese and pastrami is going to lure me in.

But there is a distinct difference between paying out your hard earned cash for something that is grossly overpriced for what it is whether it had quality ingredients or not.
The said establishment is a cafe in Roker - not the phucking Ritz grill.

Never said that did I?
But £9 for a sarnie in a cafe in Sunderland - nah, give your head a shake man.
Take away the price, you seem to be getting really hung up on the location. It’s the product that you’re paying for. I haven’t had anything from there by the way, so you may be 100% correct, but it’s your attitude, spread across a wider population of the city that means we’ll always settle for average shite knocked out as cheap as can be, whether it be bars, pubs, restaurants.

£9 is expensive for a sarnie but i dont mind paying for stuff when its decent quality, it was my Saturday morning hour out the house when we have been in lockdown. I dont mind paying it but its down to the individual.

People will complain about spending £9 or a sarnie but hoy a tenner on a 6-fold accumulator that goes down the swanny.

FWIW around location, Get your sarnie and walk 200 yards up the road and your in Roker Park, beautiful area.

Of course it's the location.
If you go to a top establishment -you pay for it. That is a fact.
The side street establishment of Roker - even though it is in the Riviera - is not in Ego Ronay's good food guide as far as I know.
That's why you pay more for a steak at Miller and Carters than at Wetherspoons - the comparisons are endless.
Nothing to do with settling for average.
Just a simple case of being taken for a ride - which I won't be. £9 for a f***ing sarnie - give your head a shake.!
Nah. Definitely a proper tight wod. ;)
Nah - fools and their money are easily parted.
I'm no fool M00, and won't have my pants taken down by extortionate prices for over priced bait. Or drink for that matter. 👍

You’re comparing two different things, the quality of the establishment, this £9 sarnie establishment has already been mentioned as being the best coffee so I assume it’s good for everything else, better than its competitors so should charge a premium.

You were comparing location, Roker. That’s got nowt to do with it surely.
