He has had demerit points already. The only evidence I can see is the type of double standards (Imran Khan calls it ingrained racism but I wouldnt go that far) that we have seen from England over decades. The outrage on here over the pitch, the Burns LBW and the Rohit stumping was just ridiculous. If Root had been given not out on the stumping with his foot on the line in England people would have said 'ooh hes abut lucky there' but because its over there its 'Indian cheats'. There's no conspiracy.

Never seem to have problems with NZ, SA, WI or SL pushing the boundaries of the game.

Have we not just been outplayed for 3 days on a poor cricket wicket which has played pretty much the same for 3 days.
Christ I have watched championship cricket at the Riverside for the past 25 years on poor quality pitches. It effects the standard of cricket and makes some ordinary cricketers look better than what they are but sorry India have out played us and technically and mentally we have come up. Short. I couldn't give a monkies about Kholis behaviour that just an excuse.

They have been, I think the issue for most is the extra curricular stuff and the television umpire.
It’ll remain to be seen, but Kohli should be sanctioned for:
- refusing to go after being clean bowled.
- running intentionally through the danger area of the pitch when batting.
- arguing with an umpires decision.
I was once banned for two games for the last one. Didn’t even swear.
Rohit was out, simple as that - then you had the ridiculous issue surrounding Rahane gloving one. When they all start piling up you have to appreciate people will be riled. Especially considering they pretty much admitted they fucked up by giving England the review back.
The pitch is a disgrace, purely and simply. You can’t have a Test pitch breaking up inside the first 6 overs of the match and that’s what happened here. Irrespective of who benefits, in other countries where the pitches are bouncy, that sort of thing would be inherently dangerous to players.

Two points on the pitch. It wasn’t a danger to anyone because we aren’t in countries with a bouncy wicket and it has played the same for all 3 days so far. Therefore it is fair and I don’t see the problem with it. Obviously it doesn’t benefit England, but seaming tracks in England dont benefit India, and it’s their prerogative as home team. And let’s be fair, if we batted properly both innings the game would end late day 4/early day 5, which isn’t far off the ideal timings for an uninterrupted game. Think the whole pitch thing is becoming an excuse frankly. Bad pitches are dangerous, inconsistent and/or change massively over the game. None of those things have happened. Just because the pitch doesn’t suit us, doesn’t mean that it wasn’t fair.
The toss was more important in test 1 than test 2 of this series, in fairness, so could argue that the first pitch was less fair than the second if anything.

Mate if this was any other country there would be more criticism of whats happened this week
This no great conspiracy, India are the dominant force of world cricket, they are essentially a Manchester United currently playing in league one
People daren't criticise them as they cant afford to.
Its why the underdog story winning in Australia was a bit of bollocks really like, the resources they have, and the money they have, should beat everyone

They sacked the groundsman, brought a team stooge in and served up a gully for maximum home advantage because they lost the first test. The performance of England is neither here nor there, that is just bad sportsmanship. I hope we leave an inch of grass on the wicket next time they visit.
So why did they sack the groundsman for preparing a near perfect Test wicket for the first Test?
That’s bollocks about the toss, the deterioration was completely natural and India didn’t apply themselves anywhere near enough when batting in their first dig.
A pitch should not be exploding on the first morning of a Test and just because it isn’t dangerous doesn’t mean it’s in any way acceptable. It’s Test cricket, not village.

It can be 100% really hard if the weather suits, but it’s not remotely comparable unless the ECB are now fixing the weather

Will they not just prepare similar pitches for the final 2 tests?
I can’t remember the last time we played on a ‘green top’ at home. If anything the pitches we’ve played on have got flatter and better to bat on.
We play on good pitches in this country almost without exception and the main factor as you rightly say in assisting the bowlers is the atmospherics, which we can do nothing at all about.

Aye this is the equivalent of England turning up at Lords with two inches of grass on the deck.
You can absolutely guarantee if India had won the toss and batted first last game, made 500 and won the game we wouldn’t be seeing a pitch like this...and the groundsman would still be in a job.
