He's a decent batsman, but he's not the Gilchrist type that Ed Smith wanted in the team. I'm not convinced he merits a place in the best 11 red ball cricketers, but as you say, he's had a good last 12 months

Has to be said lads, Foakes keeping like a dream on this minefield, struggling to think off a finer keeping performance in recent times. And Buttler has been brilliant in the last 3 tests for the record.

0 extras is unheard of after this many overs.

Yes. I think so.

I think Foakes is a brilliant keeper, and a good bat. He’s been harshly treated, but Buttler has had a top class 12 months

At least he’s getting the most important part correct, wickets. Don’t think he’s a million miles away from being good enough. I’d still like to see us work with him to get him back to his best, as he’s an asset with bat and ball when in form
