The ball doesn’t permanently swing. Plenty of examples of attacking innings over the years. And he also plays overseas

Has to be said lads, Foakes keeping like a dream on this minefield, struggling to think off a finer keeping performance in recent times. And Buttler has been brilliant in the last 3 tests for the record.

He's a decent batsman, but he's not the Gilchrist type that Ed Smith wanted in the team. I'm not convinced he merits a place in the best 11 red ball cricketers, but as you say, he's had a good last 12 months
