Keep feeding those birds during the snowy weather

Was just looking out at the snow and noticed a robin was eating seed on the bird feeder. The outside light is on. I didn't think they fed this late at night!
Must've been a big Robin to set your outside light off
Had a few green finches at the feeders, along with blue and great tits.

Had wood pigeons, blackbirds, doves and jackdaws all sitting in the tree waiting for me to put stuff out on the bird table round the side, greedy gits have snaffled the lot apart from nyger seeds

We get Oystercatchers nearby in the fields now they got a call

There's been a resident family at Durham's cricket ground in Ch le Street for the last 2-3 years. They used to do a few circuits of the ground in the late afternoon - after missing out last season hopefully we may get the chance to see if they're still there this summer.
Daft next door neighbour feeds seagulls on her lawn. Guess what our car gets covered in?

Same here. Live 10 miles from the coast but there were 40 of them devouring the bread she left out today with predictable results. Poor blackbirds and spuggies never got a look in.

It's not a PIR one. It's controlled by a switch in the house, and I'd left it on to look at the snow ❄

This cold snap having to up the feeding frequency during the day.
Feeding suet pellets and the Blackbirds and Robins queue up.

A staggering 24 Blackbirds at one time.
Getting a few European Male Blackbirds that don’t have the bright yellow beak that the UK Males have. Different in colour from the female.

Robins virtually hit the pellets as they hit the lawn and as bold and tame as you would expect. They are feet away from the window.

I had 2 small mice helping themselves to the bird feed in our garden, then a big rat turned up and chased them off. Put a poison bait box down and rat disappeared and mice came back.

One of favourite ever things was looking out into the garden and seeing a field mouse sitting up looking happy as larry munching on piece of Oreo biscuit that the bairn had dropped 😁
