Whisky

That colour is fantastic, love Japanese stuff never tried any Karuizawa how comparable is it to yamazaki or nikka styles

Karuizawa is a lot meatier and flavour forward than other Japanese brands which tend towards subtlety. In Scotch terms I’d say it has shares common ground with the best Mortlachs.
Only Japanese I've ever had was nikka from the barrel, and I wasn't impressed until I got to the last glass in the bottle unfortunately. Proper curious about the likes of yamazaki and hakushu but not enough to pay what it costs to acquire a bottle

Japanese whisky stupidly expensive. I was fortunate to buy most of my bottles before the price boom. Hakushu 18 is an excellent dram.

Only way I'll every try one is if I see it in a bar somewhere, even then I can imagine it'd be pricey. Hakushu 12 is around £250 IIRC

I paid £80 for a bottle of Hakushu 18 at Newcastle Airport about 5 yr ago, happy days !

Loch Fyne have 10% off for Burns night. To get free delivery £75 must be spent prior to the reduction. I'm definitely getting a Tobermory 12 but unsure of the second bottle. I'm considering Benriach 12 but does anyone have a different suggestion?

Cheers mate you've just given me the push I needed to go and pour myself a Tobermory 12 for this evening :)

As for suggestions, not sure but I've always fancied giving Ailsa Bay a go...

How peaty is the Bunnahabhain 12?

I'm after a new one before the weekend, preferably off Amazon. Really enjoyed the last recommendation on this thread.

Upping budget to £70/80. All recommendations welcome. Particularly interested in trying older ones.

Not at all.

You could try Glenfarclas 21 at that price point or Deanston and Ancnoc 18's are both meant to be good
