I will say, in the US they've been known to step in when a franchise falls into disrepute. I look at Donald and Methven and think that ideally the EFL should have stopped them, but there's a case to be made that the FA should have greater involvement in protecting institutions sliding down the leagues or being managed to the point of financial ruin. That wouldn't apply to the Mags, but it\s an argument I don't think is crazy when applied sensibly.
