F1 2021

reading that monaco are adamant they'll go ahead this season (bundling the historic gp\formula e\f1 into a short period)...

sounds like baku & canada are touch'n'go whether they happen.

i get the feeling that this season will follow a similar pattern to last season sadly. fly aways and road tracks unlikely would be my guess.
I personally enjoyed last season with the “new” tracks like Mugello and Imola. They’re so much better than the Tilke shite.

It’s certainly not the worst news, I’d agree. I don’t think Monaco brings much in terms of on track action.

I hope f1 realised after last year that they can mix it up, do some circuits have to appear year after year? Keep a pool of 30 tracks and mix it up perhaps? I presume if they went to mugello 20 years in a row it might become long in the tooth perhaps?

I imagine that circuits need the financial stability of 10 year contracts though (although the BRDC may argue Bernie fucked them owr there like!).
the Tilke shite
Turkey may break that rule.

Monaco doesn’t have much track action but I enjoy it as in appreciating the skill it takes to drive. I think that as a TV spectacle they could showcase the required skill by improving the camera positions. Everyone knows what the place looks like and probably still wants to see part of the area but more on track action could be better.

i presume there'll be no crowds there to watch it, no people = no boats i assume, no people = no glamour, no glamour = why bother going?

It’s a street circuit but isn’t dictated by 90 degree bends and is much tighter than others so makes it less forgiving

I agree but I also think it’s ripe for experimenting with a new type of race or competition. The cars have outgrown the size of the track.

Arguably the best qualifying track as a spectator but the worst race. Bar that race where everyone ran out of fuel ('82?) and panis in 96 winning, they've all been utterly **** races there.

Silly / daft thinking I know, but if it were up to me I'd just have a qualy session on sat and another again on the sunday with the normal points system in place for the fastest ten qualifiers in each or something!

I thought that but you’d have the same people at the top mostly, the same issue as with the race. I don’t know what the answer is but I’m sure some options have been considered. Even Bernie’s sprinkler system. I doubt the prince would sign-off on that though

Nissany to continue as Williams test driver.

The 26-year-old Israeli will have three outings in practice sessions at Grands Prix, plus one day of pre-season testing as part of his deal.
2020 Formula 3 title contender Frederik Vesti has been announced as Mercedes’ first junior team recruit in over a year, while it has also been confirmed that he will switch from 2020 Champions PREMA to French side ART Grand Prix for his second F3 season.

The Danish racer becomes just the fifth member of the Mercedes driver programme, joining current Formula 1 driver George Russell, as well as Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Paul Aron and Alex Powell.

id read that mercedes (toto?) was treading carefully with this, quality over quantity... seemed to be a dig at helmut & his high turnover poor return policy perhaps?

i presume freddie will have the danish national "suck my balls" character of racing?!

How do you get good seats for all these lads?

India was good anarl iirc
i don't really remember it... was during one of the red bull snooze seasons, although im sure i read that the red tape involved with getting the circus into & out of the country was a massive problem for the teams? although the fcukers go to russia so not sure how bad it was?
Malaysia is a good shout, modern track, but well liked, same as Turkey.
was it the government who pulled out of that? refused to pay bernie the asking price to stage the event?
