Bi-fold doors cost

Evening! Just after some advice re bifold doors for those that have had them installed. We’ve converted a double garage and wanting 5 doors along the back of the room. Had a quote today for 12k which I thought was high. It did include a lintel but I thought it seemed high, although I have no prior experience to base this on.

We had a 3 door white aluminium one for 3k about a year ago.

They are great when the weather is nice but the frames are cold in the winter - I am persuading the boss to rig up some thick curtains.

If I made the decision I would have had French doors instead.

We did an extension back in Summer. Had 4 fitted. They cost 6k. Lintels are cheap as chips mate. 12k seems very high to me.

seems high like but nor me or anyone else knows the actual job so it could well be justified.
give Chris and Tony a shout at north east bifolds.I’m confident it’ll be a canny bit cheaper than that.

mention me mate for a free tube of white silicone on quotation
I’ll drop them an email, cheers

Work on £1200 per leaf.

A 5 configure bi-fold will take something substantial to support whatever is above it, probs rsj and calcs to sign it off.

This, I used to do the double garage with a pillar in the middle into a single opening for a roller shutter garage door company and you should do this through building control with possibility a RSJ and structural calculations. A lot of the window companies wouldn't know this so something for the OP to bear in mind

I got quotes last year for bi folds and sliding doors , the gap was about 5metres . We used a firm named Bison in Gateshead.
My quotes were about 5k for the bifolds and about 5.5k for the slides . I was adamant that we were getting bi folds but when I saw the slides we thought they looked much better and almost everyone who’ve seen them have agreed.
The quotes you have gotten look very high and even when I factor in the massive lump of steel above the doors , it only cost 6.5k.
I did get a quote for the blinds that go inside the doors and they were crazy prices , about 3k more .

This included the integrated blinds inside the glass but they work out at 300 a door so an extra £1500z what are slides?
Sliding doors . They are on 3 runners so you can slide them from one side to the other. Obviously one has to be fixed so you don’t get quite as big an aperture as bifolds but it’s still huge . With the 5m gap we have 3 doors and it looks almost all glass instead of lots of frame . If you want you can dm your email and I’ll show you a picture of them . Whichever you choose I’m sure they’ll look impressive .
