F1 2021

I think Max knows he needs to finish more races and I am sure he will do that.

I just think Merc will have refined their car even more for 2021 and I suspect Red Bull will have been unable to close the gap. Perhaps its an unwillingness to move away from the basic Newey design principles?

Newey has been the car designer of his generation. Whether he's done yet is open to debate - my personal feeling is he isn't.

Red Bull have simply come up against a fierce competitor with huge pedigree in Mercedes.

It should be interesting to see how Honda perform in their swansong season and I feel that will be the deciding factor for Red Bull.

To change a design philosophy is beyond a major job. Once they went high rake, they were tied into it for the length of the current regulations.

Racing Point changed, but lost about half a season before any results started to come. A team of Red Bull's prominence could not afford to write off half a season minimum.

Indeed and that is probably why we will see Merc win again this coming season.

perhaps perez will wipe the floor with him and really take it to hamilton...

he won't in my humble one...

Redbull need to make sure both drivers know the battle is with Merc/who every they are nearest and not each other. The last thing they need is a return to the DNFs they had with max and ricciardo. Although it was fun to watch.

The have been working on the 2021 car for 6 months, everyone else was still developing 2020. The field won't even up too much till 2022.
Wouldn't be surprised if the 2021 car is about done and gets next to zero development throughout the year - they'll be flat out on 2022 by now, months ahead of everyone else.

Grosjean hand injuries.

Ouch! 😬

I can see Perez having greater mental toughness due to his experience.

If he can get within a couple of tenths consistently and then follow through with strong race pace that will be his job done.

Max needs to stop trying to destroy his team mate, it's immature and his Da should know better for encouraging it.
His Da was never good enough to destroy any of his teammates! Maybe that's why he encourages it

Tbf I think Perez has probably been told to make sure he gets 4th and be in a position to help max when needed.

The fact Merc stopped developing 2020 car back in September to concentrate on 2021 tells me they’ll be well ahead at the start of the season
Lewis still hasn’t committed yet either
It’s worrying me a little this

I can't imagine how complex Hamiltons contract must be. So many strands to his dealings with Mercedes and all all associated partners.

His legal team must be incredible.

Doesn't he negotiate his own contracts? Maybe that's the problem!
yep... if i recall correctly, toto said the middle of last year that all he would need to do was sit down with lewis alone (when covid paddock restrictions allowed - which is why they said it would be after the end of the season), take the contract out the draw from last time & tweak some of the figures but in general the rest of it remains the same since day one. maybe's lauda being missing has changed something?

The ownership structure of the team changed between then and now though. Looks like that is a big problem here.
