It is quite simple really. The millions that follow that lot up the road are expecting automatic PL championships and European Cup winners. They should, of course, qualify automatically for the knock-out stages of the Champions League and hold top seed position. It is only obvious that this should happen. Any PL fixtures will count as friendlies for them but points are available (they will be lucky to get them btw) for the opposition.

They will then be able sell the club to those Awabs and have free entry for 1000 years or the length of the lease that remains for the Cathedral on the Hill. The Saudi Goevrnment will provide extra family credits so that the lads and lasses that stand outside the Council Tip - last estimate 750000 alone just looking at the shirts drying - need not have financial worries and the William Hill shops can remain open.

We are indeed very lucky to be their neighbours.

They may be a bit deluded as a fanbase, but that team plays like a Phil Parkinson team. I don't blame them for wanting to watch something better, so would we.

I think he is doing as well as you could expect with that squad. ASM aside what players would a top ten side take from them? Ashley’s pockets aren’t deep enough to challenge for top six so may as well tread water until he can sell. If they went down (alas they won’t) they would be lumbered with the vast majority of the squad.

Pretty comfortable in the premier league and knocked out of a cup competition at the QF stage.

Aye the world is ending for them like.

The most stupid supporters in the country by a country mile.

Though Bruce did finish 10th with SAFC if any of us forgot.
Tbf like something like 3rd highest finish in something like 60 years. Not something to turn your noses at.
We all know Bruce is one of football's biggest whingers.

But he's not wrong here like - with their squad and bad fortune with Covid, 12th is absolutely fine. The loss against will be frustrating for them, but Brentford are a decent side and it's not like they were going to win a trophy there based on a) the other teams left in; b) their history of never winning anything, ever. His tactics are sensible too, who the fuck do they think they'll sweeping away with that squad, who the fuck do they think would come in and go all gung-ho and it'd work? There aren't many Bielsas around who can turn water into wine, attacking football wise.

It's entitled mag delusion again. And the dynamic set up now, between a whinging Bruce at his worse but with righteousness on his side, versus their entitled deluded and very wrong fanbase will be f***ing piss funny to watch play out. You f***ing love to see it.
This did tickle me a bit

Do people genuinely believe that Steve Bruce is a better manager and has been better for them than Benitez? Because I mean, it's just quite obviously not true.

I don't know who's winding who up any more on here.

He's not a better manager than Benitez but the double-standard their fans apply as far as the latter is concerned is nowt short of staggering.

Spunked about £50 million in the Championship largely on Championship-level plodders, played horrifically negative football and got knocked out of cup competitions by lower-league opposition in all 3 full seasons they had under his management. Pretty much every other manager they've had since Keegan would have been vilified in those circumstances yet they treat Benitez as some sort of demi-God type figure, their cult-like devotion to him is f***ing weird.

I recall a website which was dedicated to his excuses while he was manager here. Some of them were pretty spectacular, to be honest.

You could mix and match most of what he says into Newcastle/Hull/Villa/Birmingham pressers too.

I agree and I think the media have cottoned on to this too. The media, pundits and I dare say many football fans in general have a bit of sympathy with Steve Bruce. Sure you could say some of the recent performances have been poor but if you look at the general results they have been much of a muchness, if anything Bruce is a bit ahead. This is my favourite example: ;):lol:

Not wrong all the same. It’s a truism to say “how the other half live”. Those in the Premiership think it’s a crisis when they lose two games in a row. They don’t know how bad life is the lower down the pyramid you get.

Well Bruce hasn’t got them relegated yet, for a start. They weren’t even in the relegation zone when they appointed Benitez. Deluded mag wankers forget that though.
