As as sunderland was County Durham at that time I’m sure we did have but would be incorporated into Durham, as would Newcastle into Northumberland.

If you Google for ROC bunkers Sunderland. These were used as look out points and there were a few dotted about, generally at places with a good vantage point. The one at Hastings Hill had been filled in, but there are some still around.

Also there used to be loads in the forests around sunderland airport, remember playing in them as a kid, obs before Nissan

That’s just a Pillbox. A ROC post is fully underground with only man access and ventilation structures above ground.
There’s one which hasn’t been demolished near Easington apparently.
