Completely agree, evaporated all hope I had in any positive changes by the new ownership. Who gives a piffle if he has a proven track record of producing top talent through the academy and is well qualified? It's BIRMINGHAM CITY for crying out loud!! 😫

They're in the league above us, wtf are you expecting?

Have won a trophy a lot more recently than us too.

This place seems to think we're going to hire a Premier League standard manager - why?!

Boro? Absolutely

their academy is brilliant, it produces a ton of footballers

not sure I get your post

Is it? Boro’s academy was once brilliant. These days it’s probably on par with what we have. Who was the last genuinely brilliant footballer to come from Boro? I’m quite close to Boro’s Academy through my son and it’s not what it once was. I’m not saying it’s bad because it’s not but it’s certainly not what it was and they have lost a number of coaches and directors from the Academy the same as we have

Forgot to add, we are applying for cat 1 acadamy status this season because it is doing so well. So on the acadamy side he did a decent job. The recruiting players side has been a bit hit and miss though.

Redmond, damari gray, butland.

He was liked by the owners and there was rumours he was picking the side last year instead of the manager 😂

Hard to judge his time here because we have been broke / under financial restraints for years now.

You started on a positive but the bold bitg is concerning

As has been posted recently they did but don't now. I was trying to state that theres more than Birmingham has player rise up to prem in the past. Poeple going on like this fella is a youth genius when they didn;t know him from adam earlier today.

Sounds like a solid if unspectacular choice. That’s a definite improvement. Hope he’s given time, developing academy is not an overnight job, probably three or four years before we can judge. On an aside, Can anyone remember the Dutch fella we recruited years ago as head of academy?

We'd have definitely taken Dave Parnaby from them a couple of years ago.
When they were in prem with almost half a tem of academy products yes. Less so recently. I'll say again nothing wrong with wanting to aim higher yet I'm attacked for this. Something clearly wrong there.

More than a few years ago if it’s the same one you’re thinking of.

No idea, they wanted managerial appointment for this weekend. But the two people mentioned are doing the interviews so that tells me that it’s all sorted.
Think they are looking to announce it all together? Yous think takeover would be confirmed first

If there's an ounce of truth to those rumours then he's a disastrous appointment. Not only will any decent manager not put up with it, neither would any self respecting coach.

Looks that way, both involved in picking the manager.

This doesn't make sense to me. This Speakman is at this moment still employed by Birmingham. His name didn't even get mentioned until today. I can't believe that he's been working with us since the weekend on choosing a new manager.
