Redmond , Gray , Adams.
Villa and Leicester tend to snap up the decent youth in the Midlands.
May find it tougher with different demographic here. Its more than a youth role though isnt it SPD its to control club at all levels. Hard to imagine someone of this level doing that. He'll need to demand respect in same way a manager would and indeed stand up to a manager if required.
Compared to the usual tripe we appoint (Rodwell, Parkinson) I’d say this shows some good forward thinking.

Definitely not a Donald type appointment, don’t think this lad has been at Eastleigh/Oxford before...
NOr has he been any higher. Talk was of continental model, progression. Id see this role for someone with experience of big club. 14 years at Birmingham Hmmm
che adams and demarai gray for a start
Been mentioned. Che Adams isn;t scoring many and Gray is a squad player but appriecate they're higher level than us now. You surely arent excited to have someone 414 years at a championship club join us?

Any higher than what? The championship?

We should be getting someone from Dortmund or Ajax then? Not going to happen. We need to lose the "We're Sunderland, they'll come because we're a big club" attitude. That's simply not how the rest of the football world sees us.
If owners have pull and cash as we're led to believe why not. I for one am f***ing sick of this it'll do attitude. its whats got us where we are with the shit we have in the club now. Not saying lets get big names but lower people on way up from higher standard isn't a bad start.

Seems like a very positive appointment (has he been appointed yet). He may be able to do good things here due to us having a cat 1 academy, I could be wrong but I don't think Birmingham have one?

Yes actually. Set sights higher. I wouldn't want anyone who's spent 14 years in one mediocre club i'd want someone with experiences of higher levels. To me it smaks of more of the same. As I say I hope i'm wrong and wish the lad all the best (I reallhy hope he succeeds as i'll be happier) but if the manager is now a league one plodder and the takeover is a fudge you wouldn;t be surprised would you. We're crying out for positive change but doesn't look like happening.

We're in no position to have people learning on the job. We need someone with a proven track record of delivering, not just wanting people in because they've been at a "big club". Speakman has that,

Well if he has been at Birmingham for 14 years, then he has been in the premiership before mate. ;)

Also we don’t know who will be appointed as manager yet unless I have missed something glaringly obvious? It was Poyet and then Cowley so I struggle to keep up.

TBF, if they are only a Cat 2 Academy it’s makes the list of graduates even more impressive, especially since they will be competing with Villa, Wolves and WBA for youth players.
Not if they're the second city of England. I'll reiterate SPD role more than being a youth development officer. Its a bigger picture.
And has overseen the emergence of players who are now either in the Premier League or Champions League.
Lots of players in prem and champions league from championship. Why's someone most on here never heard of now some football svengali?

No manager yet but It looks like it won't be a positive hire at present. I'm shocked how many will just accept anything on here. In a years time I hope i'm eating humble pie but really to be so positive over someone most didn't know about haway man.

Be fair over the last 14 year B’ham have been a political nightmare- so he’ll fit in well here.

I lived in Brum for 20 years, and worked with Jack Wiseman's son at one point. It's always been a political nightmare. One year, the university Fresher's handbook recommended taking a pen to St Andrews, because there was usually a petition about somrthing going.

It doesn’t matter how many players at that level were signed from Championship clubs, I’m talking about Birmingham specifically.

Butland, Gray, Adams, Bellingham etc, imagine he did that here? We’d either have some good young players on our hands, or we’ll have made money on them.

You’re of course entitled to your opinion, but I don’t get the negativity just because he’s coming from Birmingham.
