The Crown

I read there are to be two more series of this. So we will have fire at Windsor, fergie, then Diana’s death, then presumably up to the queen mother and margarets deaths in early 2000s.

please god they don’t shovel in It’s a Royal Knockout, I don’t think I could stomach that again

Binge watched it all and had it finished on Tuesday

Nobody’s mentioned her yet but I really like Erin Doherty as Princess Anne. Surprised they didn’t cover the attempted kidnapping at gun point though.

Anne is the standout for me too and the most closely matched to how I imagine them to be as people.

Anne seems the only one with common sense.
Mind I really admire the Queen. I know she comes over as cold but bloody hell, what she's had to put up with over the years, not just with her family but all the political crises throughout the years.
What a woman. Truly dedicated to the country.

Always admired Anne.Recognises the she does have a public role to play but has never really been public about it. No royal titles for kids or state favours but is arguably the hardest working royal in terms of engagements. Thought the lass who played her was one of the standout performers in an understated way which personifies Anne tbh

I'd like to see them feature the Royal Knockout stuff actually, break up some of the more serious episodes :D

spoiler alert for anybody who hasn’t seen episode 7.

I’m not demonising them, I weirdly get the queen mother’s explanation.
it was just incredibly sad that those 2 poor woman where left yet they fully knew who they were and who their family was.

of course I’m only going off what I watched but it was undoubtedly sad viewing.

I think the really sad part is that they were the Queen Mothers cousins but their own parents and siblings didn’t visit them. I think the Queen Mother might have questions to answer but the rest of the Royal family, such as the Queen and her family, don’t appear to have had any knowledge of them at all. But the Queen Mother was hard as nails though and I can’t imagine her going round advertising the fact that her cousins were in an institution.
They’re being a bit sympathetic to Camilla lookswise.

She was nice looking as a young woman. Remember she was twice Diana’s age and not many nearly forty year old woman can stand comparison with a nineteen year old girl.

They were the queens full cousins not the queen mothers. They were the daughters of the queen mothers brother who died when he was relatively young.
Sorry for being pedantic just pointing out.

On season one ep 6 and they are already throwing Margaret under the bus the kernts
The Queen is some nasty piece of work.

Troll.

Apparently the Queen Mother knew nothing about the sisters until 1982 so the Crown clearly is embroidering the story.

Inspired by this thread, thought I’d give it a whirl.

3 episodes into the first series, fantastic tv. The fella from Chernobyl is superb as Bertie.

Lots to look forward to.

I was the same, its very well done. I always assumed it would just be pro royal propaganda but its actually top drama which shows how bad they were

Bertie / King George VI is a true man amongst men. A total hero and one of the finest if not the finest man this country has produced.
After having watched the first couple of episodes, I chose to watch The Kings Speech which similarly, had passed me by. Great film, and, as you suggested, shows what a great man he was.
