Takeover News/Rumours

you cant expect someone to takeover and then rid the club of top end management straight away! These things will take time and of course things will be in the pipeline and people will be expected to perform, but the short term goal (look it up Parky) is to get it right on the football side first
Anyone who expects them to come in and throw the axe at every head in the first week aren't being realistic.
And those who keep repeating this shite about shuffling the deck chairs aren't even using the correct metaphor, unless they helicoptered someone in to take charge of most of the chairs seconds before it hit a giant ice cube

Spot on. I’m hopeful the phrase “day to day operations” is a good indication that the Sporting Director will be running the show, Rodwell will just be making sure the paperwork is handled and the work is delegated.

it specifically says SD will be above the CEO, which to me suggests he’s CEO in name only at that point?

Still strange these wage caps with bonuses.

Say you on 2.5 k and 1 k per goal. Then you score one so you getting 3.5 k

Now do you sign a player on 1.5k predicting he may get a goal. What then if he scores 3 in a game.

Same goes for clean sheet bonuses.

Just honestly can't get head round the bonus bit at all.

Wouldn't worry about us paying out goal bonuses.

I doubt that, we could get promotion with no change, it's possible not much could happen in two weeks and we could still be promoted.

Think we are on 8 games now since we last beat a team of 11 men so I would think if we focus on that stat alone I would be confident in saying we will not be getting promoted if there is no change

*We are going to start to beating teams of 11 men which we cant do

Much as I don't rate Parky at all and don't want him to be our manager he would probably have us in or around the playoffs, so there is a chance of promotion. Can't see him getting us in the top two.

he may get top six but I’m not confident, and if we did I don’t think we have the character to win the playoffs.

sacking Parky is paramount as far as I am concerned.

The stats would back up that we will be in or around the playoffs, over a reasonably prolonged period now.

So the worst that can happen is that we spend a ton in L1, get punished by the EFL and can't spend anything in the Championship?

That sounds just as bad tbh.

I really don't know how we could circumvent the wage cap at this stage. People have this false idea that billionaires can grease the wheels in other ways, but I'm not really sure if that's going to cut it with us being right at the limit.

We can't sign a great player, pay him a pittance in wages and keep up the plausible deniability. The only realistic option for someone extremely wealthy would seem to be getting rid of the highest earners and eating their contracts so that we can buy a couple of new players in January.

The best thing we can likely do is spend on the coaching staff and recruitment team etc. Get the best people we can in those positions and we should be capable of getting a good side together even within wage cap limits (assuming coaching staff / manager / sporting director doesn't count towards the cap, I don't think they do). Maybe supplement that by paying good wages for talented u21 players (only issue there is not many will move to us, but hopefully use the loan market for some if nothing else). The more first team standard u21s we have, the more we can spend on the over 21s. On top of that we offer very generous promotion bonuses. If the club looks like a serious competitor again players will choose us I've other clubs in this league if we at least match wages and offer money if successful. We can definitely make it work if we have the money, the main challenge as I see it would be bridging the gap when we go up to the championship. We might get players to come here ahead of other L1 clubs, but they'd still likely choose championship clubs ahead of us so we'd still be fishing in a limited pool

the fact we have 'made the play offs', imho, is more down to the rest of this league being actually worse than us than anything parky has conjured up.

the players, barring a couple, seem more than happy to keep turning out and collecting a wage rather than putting in that extra effort and energy that would see us easily top two, now, is this because they know with the wages cap they will be very lucky to get even a one year contract on less wages than now if we get promoted?

most presume they will not be kept if promotion does happen (may also be something written into current contracts that promotion will require a review etc) but the simple fact remains, IF they play well and consistent there is probably more chance of them being offered a higher wage on review, seems strange to me that players would not want the chance to 'prove themselves' in a higher league so i guess there has to be something else that is holding the team back and right now that would point to parky, his tactic, his failings and therefore adecent manager will be able to get these lads playing with that little extra purpose they need toget out of this league.

I don't think our problem is lack of effort from the players.

spot on mate,u21 loans is the way ahead in the short term.A huge number of players are again out of contract at end of season, which clears the decks for a new team to be bought by the new owners

Mind you, if we didn't go up, and hadn't moved people on, it's storing up future problems. From next season, all over 21 players will have their pay counted in full, whether they're in the squad or not. The current arrangements are for 20/21 only.
We also have a drop off big time come the end of the season. Not ideal to wait but it'll make managing the squad size a lot easier.

SAFC Black Cats News on Facebook the lad who runs it reckons the deal hasn't even been agreed yet. DD hasn't even been done although Dreyfuss and co remain interested. Not sure where he's got his information from mind
