Takeover News/Rumours

This thread makes me chuckle, there’s nothing concrete from anywhere other than a piece in The Guardian most probably written by CM and we are the next Man City.

I sincerely hope these idiots clear off altogether some time soon, but include Sartori in that as he has done nothing in 2 years, absolutely nothing.

To be fair Louise Taylor is usually bang on with Sunderland news, we are nowhere near being Man City. Sartori has a 20% stake, there hasn't been much he could do even if he wanted to.
A league 1 club can't sustain a cat 1 academy, there is a reason no other league 1 clubs have them, they are too expensive to run. Plus how do you know some of these players didn't want to leave. We should of downgraded to cat 2 academy once we failed in promotion the 1st time.

No other League One club has just spent as long as we had in the Premier League at the richest time in its history. Some of the players did want to leave, because of the way the club and coaching side is being run. They've fucked off a load of talent, simple as that.

I trust what the Guardian say, they were the first to highlight that the mags takeover was at risk and they were proven to be absolutely spot on. L'Equipe, another respected source have already confirmed things are progressing.

The richest time in the premier league maybe, but we weren't rich we managed to be over £100 million in debt and a sky high wage bill aswell as paying managers and players that weren't even at the club anymore. As for the youngsters that have left nobody has any idea why they left, mmay well of been the club or some of them wanting to leave

this post should be stickied !
Agree 100% but the worst thing short did and i still cannot forget that is that he sold us to those two knackers don & charlie!I Personally despise those two and i want them out of our club asap ,if it means letting them keep a small percentage as absentee shareholders well i could just about swallow that .......... They should however never ever set foot in the sol again and charlies should keep his mendacious toady mouth shut on everything SAFC. Santi has a lot to prove at this club as of now he has been about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. Please i ask everyone don't let them change the narrative in a year or so if we are doing much better as it should never be forgotten what a stain they have been and what harm they have done to our great club.

I know for a fact that some of those players left because of the way the club is being run and the coaches in the academy being less than competent. Yes we were in debt but that doesn't change the fact the reason we have Cat 1 and those other clubs don't is because we were in the PL for a sustained period and have more money coming in.

Wasn't there a parent of an academy player (possibly on here) that was very vocal about their son being touted about?

Look i agree with you , and it's the same at Ipswich, but of niether us are countries no 1 supported team ( yes i perfectly aware that you have a massive , passoniate and community baséd support, that's why i post on here ) , champions of our country and exposed to a huge international audience, via tv and média, and Internationals exposed to move coverage.

What arguments would you use as an agent
To be honest I didnt clock that you were an Ipswich fan.

If I were at the club I'd have sat down with the player and their parents, bear in mind most u16s wont have agents yet, and explained that we want to overhaul the clubs philosophy. Being in league one is a huge opportunity to an academy player. I'd want us to ensure that the squad of 25 had at least 10 academy graduates. I'd want to ensure that the matchday squad has at least 3, even if they're on the bench.

They're still sunderland fans so romanticise the idea of them lifting us through the leagues, playing at wembley for us even if it is the Pizza trophy and lean on that as much as we can. 9/10 might not give a shiny shite but theres always 1 who we might reach.

Tell them their best opportunity to get a proper big move and earn good money is to prove themselves in league one at a proper professional level. They could jump early and move to play in arsenal or man united's under 16s but in reality its a sideways move. They'll still be playing kids football, they still wont be able to earn any more money until they sign professionally (assuming they do get offered pro terms) later, and should remember that those academies are topping up their stock regularly every year from all over europe. Thats before you even consider the hundreds of millions that they throw at their first team squad. The path to the first team of those illustrious clubs is a one in a million as the opportunities to play at that level and prove themselves will be so limited. In reality they will most likely be loaned out to the division they're leaving to a different club every year. If they stay they get stability and the chance play a few games at league one level and if they impress they're now looking at a multi million pound move to a first team squad higher up the pyramid. Think Dele Alli, Ezri Konsa, Ollie Watkins etc.

This might have worked for some of them, it might well have worked for none. All I know is we've seen parents on here tell us that the club accepted paltry bids and told them they could speak to the other club and that was it. Parents have told us that the club made no effort to state their case. They didnt even make the effort because they had no interest in keeping them. We've also seen reports about the stars of the future brochure they sent around to advertise these players. They prioritised a quick couple hundred thousand over potentially improving the club long term and its unforgiveable.
