look at short, gave up and let us slide into league 1 yet fans were shaking his hand and getting pictures with him outside Wembley at the check a trade final
Short absolutely failed here and put us in this position but it was never through selfishness or malicious intent. He wrote off hundreds of millions when he could have left us to rot and go into administration like other owners have. He genuinely wanted to do well here and has an affinity to the club and its fans. He appointed the wrong people to trust several times over and ultimately his last bad appointment was Donald and Methven as the custodians he handed the club over to.

Instead of having an owner who wanted the best for the club and failed, we've got an ownership who want the best for themselves and are failing. Every decision they make is whats best for them and not the club. Parachute payments, academy players, fans and season tickets, everything is geared towards them putting in as little as possible so that when they do sell they make a profit. They then have the gall to slate sunderland fans for abusing them, make up stories of kidnap, refer to it as the "Sunderland disease", proclaim we're all "unbelievably uneducated in business" etc. They hate us and are openly ridiculing us yet we still have people defending them. They're a bunch of utter arseholes.

he left us to rot in league 1. Why didn’t he write the debt off and sell up when we were in the prem or the championship? It was under his watch that we accumulated the highest level of debt in the clubs history. He’s just as much to blame if not more than the current lot for the position we find ourselves in

I genuinely think he thought a relegated side from the prem with O’Shea, kone, Oviedo, ndong, cattermole etc was good enough to challenge the play offs while he tried to sell. No one could have predicted how that year would end. Certainly not someone as clueless about football as short clearly was. He was a poor owner in the end but he tried his best to our detriment. The current lot are deliberately holding us back

Whether they make it or not is irrelevant, they've cashed in on kids because they had no intention of being here to see if they developed into top players or not.
You have no idea if they wanted to see them develop or not, some of them may of wanted to stay and some may of wanted to go, when your a league 1 club with a cat 1 academy the big clubs are going to come and take our best players. That's life in the lower leagues
Of course they might not make it to the top, you think that makes it ok?
We are a league 1 club with a cat 1 academy, the big clubs are always going to come in and take the best players. They may well have sold some to fund the academy as it costs a fortune to run a cat. 1 academy. Some of the players might of wanted to go, nobody knows other than those involved. If we were still in the Premier league we wouldn't of lost all those players

Without raining on anybody's parade would tell you the following

I) the Louis - Dreyfus family are like a slient partner at Marseille- a much bigger organisation run L'OM

ii) Heading it is a well known to all , i'll be polite, i live here, character , who goes by the name of José Anigo - he runs it from top to bottom, occassionally he steps in as manager

iii) lost his son to lead poisioning in a drugs war ( 19 People lost thier lives in the two weeks that followed)

iv) Under Anigo the two stands behind the goals were sub-let to so called supporter groups - not for football.

V) perhaps it just a coincidence, that Monacco, Marseille and Sunderland are coastal clubs.

Anyway , all the best for future and hope it works out.

Get in. Any more news marra?
I want to say I heard something about someone who manufactures food involved in the consortium along with the Swiss news but can’t remember if I was told it at the same time as the Swiss thing or if I read it on here and that’s why it’s sticking in my mind

That’s what people are complaining about, selling off kids to pay for running the club.
If you think that’s ok then that’s up to you, I and many others don’t.

They touted the kids out. You’re right, some may have made the move anyway but the way they went about it was a disgrace. Short term for their own benefit. Not the club

Point he’s trying to make is that we had no control over whether the kids stayed or not, unless we offered them £8-10k a week... and we simply don’t have that kind of money!

What is clear to all is thet Sartori is key in this. Is he still aligned to CM and SD or has he been as frustrated as us the lastfew months trying to change things. This may well dictate how we move forward in the future. Its looking likely to be the latter as this new money wouldn't really come in to prop up our current glourious leaders would it. As most have said it'll be really interesting to see how the club leadership is shaped in the coming months. Do they stick with PP? and who ever is in the dug out how much do they back them? And before anyone brings up the salary cap you can drive a truck through these rules. I understand your fined pound for pound for over spending, not an issue is your as wealthy as we could be, failures in the squad could be freed / paid up and the remaining wage used to bring in one or two more expensive players. You could even agree lower wage with huge bonus on promotion.U21 players don't count and should be targeted imo loans should be utilised as much as possible maybe with agreement to buy once promoted.

I think as we're all jaded by the past 5 years of failure and one of two on here have been rightly scepticle but we'll know more by Christmas and I think the mantra of supporter groups and individuals for the time being should be like that of Soviet/US relations in the 80's Trust.... But verify.
