Takeover News/Rumours

It's Martin Hardy and he is a diehard mag
Why would a Newcastle supporting journo want to put a negative spin on this takeover if it's as real as what the Guardian seems to be saying?

He is just leaving himself open for ridicule when it goes through?

So what happens if the 60% shareholder says 'I'm hoying £40m in here Donald, you need to put in £10m' and he can't ?

I think the Times is off the mark here. You don't reach an agreement in principle until due diligence is done. Who's the author? - I can think of one or two there who'd like nothing better than to put a negative spin on this.

Martin Hardy. I'm not familiar with him.

The other point raised as a "hurdle" FPP "ratification". But why... surely they just need paying back? They have no stake.

He quite possibly doesn't want them here. In fact I'd go as far as to say he almost certainly doesn't, simply because him and the other lad have enough money to not need someone like Donald keeping a share since he can't really bring anything to the table.

Unfortunately he can't make them go if they don't want to. If all Donald would agree to is selling most of his shares now and selling more when we go up (which I imagine is the case, and then maybe a smaller amount kept in case we get to the PL), then Sartori wouldn't have a choice other than to walk away entirely. I doubt Donald and Methven will have any say when this goes through, they'll be purely hoping to get a bit of profit. It's undeserved but as long as we progress as a club I'm not overly bothered
That Donald guy is a f - - king chancer. Had us all fooled. The fact he’s kept shares in case we get promoted tells you all you need to know.

They have to formally permit the deal under the terms of the loan. Given this increases their security exponentially, that should take about 5 minutes. Hardy is just aware of the terms of the loan, and knows it's a hoop that has to be jumped through. The only reason they'd turn it down would be if they were making a counteroffer, and there's no evidence of that.

I hate Stewart Donald and Methven for having destroyed any ambition this club had. However, I won’t begrudge them a nice little earner by holding onto their shares, because it means we have been successful
I agree they have been a stain on our club and i will begrudgingly hope they make a few quid provided it means we are successful ........However we must not let them change the narrative their tenure has been a disaster for our club and we must never forget this...........SAFC fans have long memories and we should keep our best jimmy hill welcome for don and charlie if they show their face around our club again especially if they dont pay back the parachute moneys as promised.

Agreed - my inclination was that whoever it is, I'm not sure they're in the detail the way it's presented.

There's more evidence to suggest they're not (FPP takeover falling through) than there is that they are.

There's no evidence to suggest either mate. The aftermath of FFP led to Donald declaring that he'd sell and leave. I don't doubt that it's a serious possibility they won't sell but we don't know. Given that Sartori is the other partner increasing his stake and his French Football connection, there's every chance that the new lad has bought into the current project. We just don't know.
