Betfred

Reading the limited evidence there, I do wonder how often a betting company voids a significant winning without substantive grounds and keeps it quiet by paying off the recipient, hoping that people will just accept there’s been a technical error and be happy with the dosh.

This case involves a huge amount and so has gained a lot of publicity.
I reckon there will be thousands of cases involving relatively small amounts where no publicity is involved and so they wont give a flying fuck the thieving kernts.

Most bookies are shitbags.
SkyBet suspended my account on August 15 without tellimg me - I tried to logon and got a message to contact them.
The balance on my account was £1150 and they are witholding this from me.
They say that their Security Team is "investigating" my account but nobody from their Security Team has contacted me and they refuse to give me the telephone number of the Security Team so that I can contact them.
They refuse to tell me what they are investigating and say they can't give me a deadline for when the investigation will complete.
Ther advertising slogan is "SkyBet - Betting Better" - what a joke!!

You won money mate, end of story.
All these you guns giving it the big locks about how much they win every week are full of shit. If you have anything about you gambling wise the bookie will either shut your account or limit you to stupid bets like 50p.

Absolutely this.

If you can get £100s on with an online bookmaker then generally speaking it's because you've got a history and/or profile that suggests you're a mug punter.

I do most of my bets in the shops now - ironically mainly Betfred because of Best Odds Guaranteed - but even then if you try and get £100+ on they refer you to head office and more often than not limit the stake.

The self service betting terminals are good for putting big bets on.

Get onto IBAS mate.

The game he won was a progressive jackpot, which Playtech (the game provider) then voided stating there was a malfunction, after about a week.
However, Playtech refuse to give any details of what the malfunction was, or any evidence, to either Betfred or the punters solicitor.
Betfred will rely on their T&C's that state malfunction = void bet, but without any evidence of the malfunction I think the punter will win. Whats more likely is Betfred will settle before court.

Take the 60k and run. Not worth the risk of losing in court. Betfred could afford to pay out if they lose, not sure punter could.

60k isn't a bad result is it.
Its a f***ing dreadful result

They know he has a strong case as they offered him that and wanted a gagging order

Online casinos and slots will be announcing record profits this year .
I'm expecting a canny bonus in December

I'm not surprised, given that many have been isolated at home for the last few months, and have been either bored shitless, or desperate to correct their restricted income.

With crisis, comes profit for some. Sadly the bookmakers (despite whinging about the lack of live sports), will be lapping up the rewards of others vulnerabilities.

Enjoy your bonus mate, please don't choke on that Lambrusco.

Bookies have always tried to get out of paying bets. Normally the best way of getting them to pay up is go to the press to attract a bit of negative publicity.

This case is pretty interesting though as if there was a true glitch in the system, the bookies will be worried of a large compo payout to all customers.

Good luck to the fella but I can’t help but feel that the bookies will spend a fortune on lawyers and he will end up with nothing.

Yep, sadly whilst none of us are privy to what exactly happened, I fear that the legal backing of a blue chip company will scare the shit out of a working class gadgee who has (in comparison) not a pot to piss in. I'm sure I'd be intimidated, even if I knew I was in the right.
